Re: Zorn "probably the worst NFL hire of all time"??
Off the top of my head I can think of one hire that is inarguably worse...
At least we didn't hire a 31 year old college co-offensive coordinator, who was not responsible for play calling, and who no one had ever even heard of. My friends Zorn could 0-16 and he'd still be a better hire than Lane Kiffin was. |

He's never called plays in the NFL but he has at the college level.

Re: Zorn "probably the worst NFL hire of all time"??
Is there any real doubt about whether Zorn can be a good HC? Not really. Any negativism is applied to this particular situation and whether he can suceed here. In general though I haven't seen anyone basically say that he can't be a good HC other than this guy.

Re: Zorn "probably the worst NFL hire of all time"??
REALLY!?! Worst hire of all time? What happened to Mike Smith and John Harbraugh? Personally I think those hires are worse then Zorn. Harbraugh was a special teams coordinator/DB coach and Mike Smith was a figurehead at D-Coordinator. Jim Zorn is a respected QB coach that turned Matt Hasselback into a pro-bowler and Charlie Batch into a respectable QB. The guy who wrote this article seems to have a personal vendeta against Zorn as well.
Oh yeah, and I can't blieve I forgot Lane Kiffin (thanks RFLPG). Thats my favorite. I remember reading a Raider fan making fun of us for hiring Zorn when his team hired a college Offensive coordinator that was younger then a good portion of his players. At least Spurrier was a head coach at the college level.

Re: Zorn "probably the worst NFL hire of all time"??
Only Zorn's wins and losses are going to decide whether he's successful. This was more of an opinion article. I'm sure some were written about Mike McCarthy too before he had the great year he did last year.

This is all about Snyder...any other team hired Zorn and it would be called a smart move or at worst they would say lets wait and see.

That's just drivel. It's poorly researched, riddled with inaccuracies, and, in some cases, flat out false. It reminds me of the Howard Dean meltdown from 2004.
The comments have, unfortunately, turned ugly, which is an instant "trump" card for the Kawakami apologists.

This team isn't that far from being really good, in fact I see us w/a handful of teams that if things go right are good enough to be in the super bowl. It makes me wonder if hiring the experienced guy would've been the right move to take a good team forward. But since we hired him, let's hope he's here a long time. |

Re: Zorn "probably the worst NFL hire of all time"??
All I have to say is that if Zorn possibly... somehow... maybe gets this team to the Superbowl that Kawakami guy is gonna catch so much heat he'll quit the second it happens. Even a playoff berth should do it since this is considered the worst hire ever.
