Re: The Big Rumor: If The Colts Take Luck, Then Manning Could Be...

Ok. Here is where I stand on this subject. Don't want to trade a bunch of picks for Manning, would love to get this guy in FA. It would be one of the biggest moves in Redskins history. If we can get this guy you have to. Draft a QB in round 2 or so. Draft a stud offensive weapon in round 1, a WR which we have plenty to chose from or trade back and get a couple of more picks and an impact player.

Manning in DC would be a huge move for the Skins, the fans, and the NFC East. From what I have read on his health it seems as though the healing is done and the procedure was a success. IDK but this could be as huge move for this team. I would be stoked to see the big fella back there at QB.

The thing with him is all of the preparation that he puts into his game. I for one would love to have a young QB watching how much work it takes to be a great QB and the work ethic of PM. How much practice and film study it takes.

We are not talking about a Jeff George here or a Brad Johnson, we are talking about one of the greatest QBs of all time. With one of the most prolific work ethics a QB could have. This guy could change alot of things in Washington and not just our W/L record.

I know. Just lazy. The O-line is fine and they'll tweak it in the off-season. Bad QB = bad protection.

So how do you know ginatone? Are you friends with him and his dad? I think a case could be made for Peyton playing in the same division as his brother.

I do not believe money will be the only defining criteria for teams PM is willing to go with. After all, did he not give back a few mm of his salary to ease the cap issues for the Colts. He does not strike me as a man that spends his money on jewelry lawsuits and making it rain in the local strip emporiums.
It would surprise me if were not more selective for a team closer to making a SB run (than the Skins) and collect another ring in the process

Hog1 - I believe you may be right, but I would at least gauge the interest as a matter of doing your due diligence to see if you can add an important piece.

And who knows Manning may like what he sees. Hell he played for a team that won 2 games without him, we won 5. His presence alone could make us a contender. Most teams that are close have a QB on their roster also.

Give me a team that is close to winning a SB but does not have a QB? Just asking, I can't really think of one that doesn't already have a QB on their roster.

I agree with you 100%. Strange things happen and we sure as hell do not want to be caught....lookin'. It is certainly an interesting proposition and would cure our QB thing for a few years (hopefully). Draft some other promising hopefuls...maybe PM could do some of that mentor thing.....maybe..

Yep, sounds about right, but the only thing that I believe would happen to hinder the org would be Manning monopolizing the practice snaps in order for him to learn the o inside and out.

Another piece that may lure PM to Washington is MS. We all know what he did with another all time great QB in the last couple of years of his career. Bringing in a PM would give us some flexibility with the draft to bring in some more playmakers on offense.

I'm not trying to be an ass, but i'm just curious why you stalk this forum? Is your life so boring you need to post on sites of teams you don't even follow? I personally just have better things to do than get on the eagles, cowboys, or giants forum and post my opinion.

Maybe he enjoys our company better than that of other Giant fans. I don't blame him. :cheeky-sm

Giantone sometimes says some annoying things. But he was a good sport about the Skins ownership of the G-men this year so he's ok here by me.

Let's look ahead.. Let's say this...

If we were to trade our 1st/3rd for Manning, and it would guarantee at least 2 playoff appearances and 1 SB appearance in the next 3 years. Would you trade for him?

Or scenario B..

We keep our 1st and make a move for RGIII or some other young stud QB in FA or draft and it would mean a dynasty type future in 3-4 years?

Me personally.. I would enjoy having Manning on the Redskins.

Why do people keep bringing up a "trade" in reference to Manning. There will be NO trade involving Manning with ANY team. His salary prevents him from being traded. Only 2 options that will happen are 1) They keep him 2) They cut him. His 28 million bonus goes into effect before free agency begins and trading him after that bonus kicks in (as well as rest of his contract) would destroy the Colts cap with dead money.

NC I agree whoever ends up with manning next year, if he is not a colts uni, will get him as a FA. His contract is both a hindrance for the Colts to keep him and to trade him.
