Re: The Big Rumor: If The Colts Take Luck, Then Manning Could Be...
Oh there you go again with your silly logic! Just let us jump to conclusions if only to keep the chicken little "we're wasting draft picks on old players" routine going; it's all we got!!!

Lets get this straight Peyton makes his O-Line better. He is a coach on the field and he knows how to read defenses. He would knows where the blitz is going to come from at presnap. He would make our O-line much better and the entire offense would be more productive. Only concern is if he is healthy to play at least 3-4 years until we groom our QB of the future. If we get Manning dont worry about the O-Line they will love him under center.

The only way I would have Manning playing for the Redskins if he gets released and we sign him as a F/A. I would have a clause about his health issue for a precaution. I rather spend money on a proven QB than a unknown like Matt Flynn who has played in a handfu of games. Smells like Kevin Kolb to me all over again, expcept Kolb was traded to the Cards who got hosed on that deal thus far.

I still have doubts that peyton will play again, but if he does, I imagine he will get maybe one more season, maybe 2 if somehow he stays healthy. I think what will happen is he will attempt to play again, he'll go on the field at 60 or 70%, still be pretty good, but the first time he takes a big lick, he might have some complications from the surgery, and I think he won't risk it anymore after that. I think Peyton doesn't know himself if he can still play. Being in practice and throwing to guys is way different than an actual game. You guys all know that. I think he has to find out for himself come game-time if he can still hang.

Everyone keeps saying how horrible our line is... It's actually pretty good

I really do not want someone else's quarterback. Let's get our own and build with that. Do what it takes to draft a young quarterback. I will not be excited about another teams reject like Sanchez or Bradford or a damaged Manning or a backup like Flynn

Re: The Big Rumor: If The Colts Take Luck, Then Manning Could Be...
I don't think our oline is as horrible as fans make it out to be. We know from Helu and Royster's production that these can run block. A competent quarterback has a way of making his line better too.
I just don't like the idea of Peyton Manning coming here. I don't hate it, just on the fence about it. Even with his accomplished past, it just smacks of the organization doing the things the same way they did when Vinny was overseeing player personnel. I know it's different, but it just "feels" the same. I honestly didn't/still don't think it's a given that he even comes back next season. We'd better have a plan B if we take the Manning plunge, that's for sure. Last edited by 12thMan; 01-14-2012 at 02:43 PM. |

Healthy I'd take Manning over any rookie qb in the draft, he'd make us legitimate contenders for 2-3 years

Re: The Big Rumor: If The Colts Take Luck, Then Manning Could Be...
It is hard to predict what will happen with Manning. He could very well be released by Indy because of his contract and his health. While I am sure Indy would like to get something for him, with these two roadblocks (contract/health) it would be hard for them to do that. Right now the Colts are in a great position to part ways with Manning without much backlash from the fan base.
Health aside, I don't think we are in such a terrible position to have a guy like Manning. However, here are my concerns: 1. Money - unless BA would work it out that Manning has to prove himself health-wise, I think Manning would be expensive for a short time. 2. Co-existance - can Manning, who is a coach on the field, co-exist with Kyle Shanahan (which I personally think KS should let Manning do his thing). Manning as a Redskins is not such a terrible idea (aside from health/money). He makes offensive lines better, something that we have not had in our team for a long time. He will make average receivers better, once again, we've never had a QB in our team be able to do that. Finally, we have a running game AND a good defense...Manning never had a running game and a good defense. I don' think Indy had those two things at the same time. Now the 600 lb. gorilla is his health. Even with the best protection in the world, he is going to get hit. And a lot of teams will be asking themselves if they want to gamble on his health and spend the money to get him.
