Re: Clemons or Arrington?

Lavar didn't reconstructive knee surgery there is a difference.

Lavar is a waste of money, we could get a LB to back up Clemons later in the draft.

Re: Clemons or Arrington?

I also agree restructure his Roster Bonus due to him...helping us with Cap and keeping a HUNGRY, still young, ALL-PRO LB...that is better then any LB in FA. I also believe with his new found attitude and a full offseason with GW we will see Lavar more on 3rd downs.

Clemons was put on injured reserve this year about 9 games into the season he has a lot of potential and I know GW loves him. I really like LaVar but if he doesn't restructure his contract I can't see him staying here, and his backup last season was Warrick Holdman who is a free agent so if LaVar left I think Clemons would be next in line he had 3 sacks this year and he usually comes in as a third down LB. I woould Personally like to see Chris Clemons start if LaVar leaves.
Why do all that.....Mc Cune....is a up and comer

I really hope LaVar does stay because he finished the year really well after all the drama. But if he gets cut, we can't rely on Clemons because he's coming off an injury so we might have to look at a vet. There is the option to put McCune in somewhere, but he's way behind Holdman in understanding the system, having been on the practice squad. I like Clemons but haven't seen enough production to hand him the job just yet. LaVar is a better option if we can keep him, as I think he is better than any free agent OLBs out there, and now he and Marcus Washington had a great December and January.

I like McCune, but I believe he is being groomed as Marshall's replacment after next year...and unfortunatley Holdman is a FA...I liked him for depth..so far we've been lucky that Washington has stayed healthy, so we've only needed a backup for Lavar.

How did McCune do this year? I was focused on him a lot in training camp (especially with having some doubts about Lamar Marshall going to MLB. Thank god I was wrong). However once the season began I pretty much forgot about him. Hell I almost forgot he existed untill reading this thread

Re: Clemons or Arrington?

I agree with all those who want Arrington to stay. He started to come on towards the end of the year, and I think he started to adjust his attitude to fit into the Redskins team-first philosophy better.

If this guy is healthy and his mind is right, he is a force on the field. Having both him and Washington on the outside is just such an asset I would hate to see us lose him for nothing.

Then again, I just can't imagine the Redskins would just drop him. I just don't see that happening.

Re: Clemons or Arrington?

I go with arrington because we know what he can do every time unlike clemons which is just a third down linebacker

If you read the post, I didn't say that I wanted Trotter back. I said that it bothered be that they released Trotter and then he had two straight pro-bowl seasons with a division rival (I thought it was a joke that Trotter made it this year but that is a whole different issue).

Actually, you couldn't be further from the truth as to the stealing money comment. I do not feel like researching this but Trotter was leading the team in tackles and then he blew out his knee on T-giving day in Dallas. He played the next year and was marginal to pretty bad (I seem to recall a stupid personal foul or two). When Gibbs came in Trotter was not invited to camp and the team chose to eat the salary cap hit. The team chose to go another direction and signed Barrow and resigned Pierce. Barrow got hurt and the rest is history. I do not recall Trotter ever being a problem for the team.

My point is that I don't want them to cut Arrington, now that he has had a chance to get healthy, and then see him return to pro-bowl form. It burned me that Trotter was a healthy percentage of the cap and and at the same time punishing our runners twice a year.

That being said, I hate Trotter. He is an Eagle.

i dont think he was saying he was a bad guy, when he says that he stole money. he is saying, i believe, that his play was so bad, that it was almost as if he were stealing money, because he had a huge salary

Re: Clemons or Arrington?

Well if the guy was a two time pro-bowler before he got here and a two time pro-bowler after he played here do you blame the player or the coaches.

Given the swiss cheese "defenses" under Spurrier, I would blame the coaches. I remember going to the Tampa Bay game when they still had Keyshawn. The Bucs ran the same play three times in a row (I was literally in the last row behind the Bucs at the time and I could see the whole field if you know what I mean). It was a simple 3 receiver set and they put one wideout in motion going right to left setting up in the slot. First play, first down to McCardell (covered and tackled by Bowen). Second play first down to McCardell (covered and tackled by Bowen). Third play, Keyshawn fakes that he will turn around goes to the post and gets a 41 yard TD ("covered" by Bowen). I was beside myself.

I don't think that a lot of people realize how far they have come in two years. The defense under Spurrier made you want to throw up.
