Clemons or Arrington?

I would say that there is about a 50% chance that we get rid of LaVar to create room in the salary cap. So if LaVar goes would you guys rather have Chris Clemons replace him or would you rather sign a proven LB? Clemons was put on injured reserve this year about 9 games into the season he has a lot of potential and I know GW loves him. I really like LaVar but if he doesn't restructure his contract I can't see him staying here, and his backup last season was Warrick Holdman who is a free agent so if LaVar left I think Clemons would be next in line he had 3 sacks this year and he usually comes in as a third down LB. I woould Personally like to see Chris Clemons start if LaVar leaves.

Re: Clemons or Arrington?

I would rather restructure Lavar's contract and keep him. I think that this grievance against the Postons may be a sign.

Lavar was humbled this year but more importantly they had the best season that he has seen. If he is a true competitor it should make him hungry. I would take a hungry Arrington over Clemons or any of the other FA Linebackers (not to mention the fact that if they eat the cap hit, they aren't signing anyone of consequence this offseason).

Did anyone notice that the skins already have 94 million committed for 07?? That is scary.

The cap in 07 doesn't exist right now. There is no cap in 07 per the current CBA. If a new CBA is installed the cap in 07 will be significantly higher than 94. One guess I saw was in the 105 range.

Everything that I have read points to a cap in 07. Do you really think that 105 means anything?? The 94 already allocated only covers 34 players.

Until the owners sign on the dotted line, it's still up in the air chief!

It will be cheaper to Restructure and keep him than it will be to cut or trade him. That has already been established. He is an impact player any getting rid of him is IMHO is a huge mistake. The only way i would consider it is if he won't restructure and is just trying to force the Redskins hand, and that does not seem to be the case.

He seems more eager to restructure now than what he did earlier in the season or even before this season started. It's funny what a winning playoff season will do for a person's persepective.

Re: Clemons or Arrington?

It will be cheaper to keep him if new CBA by June 27th, we can put his bonus in two years other then 1 year..7 mill on cap next year but 12 if we let him go.:frusty:

I don't think it's a restructure thing...I believe it is because of his bonus due.

Re: Clemons or Arrington?

Don't get me worng I really like Arrington and I do think he is willing to restructure his contract, but if the Redskins do part ways with LaVar I would really like to see what Chris Clemons is able to do he played really well as a 3rd down LB until he got put on IR he recorded 3 sacks in limited play as opposed to Arrington's 0 sacks in a starting role. I would like to see Arrington stay and start again for us but if not I say Clemons should get the job.

Re: Clemons or Arrington?

It increasingly sounds like Lavar will stay. I think if he doesn't lose some weight, one of these young guys is going to take his job anyway. Riggins had my back on Redskins Report saying that L.A. looked like he had swallowed 20 lbs of buckshot when he was returning that int. against Tampa. A buddy of mine says that since his knee injury, Lavar runs like Peggy Bundy. I agree.

And now let the Lavar boosting begin:

Re: Clemons or Arrington?

I think that everyone agrees that Arrington has not been the same physically since the injury. However, the general rule that the analysts always talk about is that major knee injuries take two years to recover from. It would be crushing to see Lavar go somewhere else and return to pro-bowl form.

Not that I liked Trotter at all but it bothers me that he has had two straight pro-bowl years for a division rival because the skins were impatient.

Re: Clemons or Arrington?

Arrington at the end of the season was starting to fit more in the system and would be even greater in his second year under the same coordinator. I hope he is able to stay.

Didn't Edgerrin James have a knee injury? It took him a couple of full years to get back into form. I do hope he comes back next year.
