So do you honestly think the Redskins have managed their QB situation correctly since Allen has come on?

No. Nobody's saying they have. But that shit happened three years ago and you clearly haven't dealt with it. I was angry and sad, like you, but I think I realistically assessed that it was OVER with Cousins. The difference is between those whining and those ready to move on, is we recognized that the bed was made, and that Cousins was never coming back. You somehow held out hope.
It was irrational. Move on.

I'm forward-focused. Smith is a good (not great) QB, just like Cousins. Do I have confidence Allen can build a winner around him? Not really. But the opportunity is there.

I agree it was about egos pride and hurt feelings, but it was a 2 way streak. Yeah the FO could have handled the interpersonal better, but at the same point KC could have been the better man (with about 50mil in his pocket) and let the past be the past. It's clear he didn't, and now he will be gone.

I will be interested to see how his career goes, personally, I expect he will have some similar drama at his next stop.

Yeah Alex wont have many 350 yards games but he will still have 26 tds next yr because hes great in the RZ.
Wrong!!!

I said it before, but the difference is Gruden loves Alex's thighs!! QB sneak on 3rd and inches, Alex and his thighs can do it!

Alex Smith is our QB, I could honestly care less about all the drama that came before. Bring on free agency and the draft.

Re: Redskins trade for Alex Smith

Ultimately, Cousins wasn't impressed with the operation. He just wanted to play somewhere else. The only time he was ever open to resigning was after the 2015 season, but I can't say I blame McC and Allen for wanting to see more before committing.

After that point, Cousins was never again interested in negotiating a long term deal with us. Everything he said in interviews was lip service. Actions speak louder than words, and he never countered a single offer the Redskins made. That tells you all you need to know.

He. Didn't. Want. To. Be. A. Redskin.

Just say goodbye and move on.

Re: Redskins trade for Alex Smith

Reading this whole thread you would think we were constantly going deep into the playoffs and we let our qb go for no reason. Our record has got worse 3 consecutive years, and Kirk was part of that. We were 7-9 this year including 0-2 against Cowboys. And he had us over a barrel. No crying over spilled milk. The team made a preemptive move early in the off-season and got a proven starting QB.

Let's see how free agency and the draft plays out. We have a chance to add/keep a lot of talent.

I'm waiting for the Zach Brown re-signed story to hit the news.

Well I would rather whine than cyber bully.. LOL.

Also we are here to express our opinions. Mine happens to be anger and frustration from the incompetence of the front office. You express your opinions differently. If everyone here had the same opinions this place would be boring as fuck. That's what makes it fun.

This is true. There were probably numerous other things behind the scenes that we'll never know about. I've moved on from Cousins, but not from giving up the draft pick and Fuller. I'm still pissed about that and will be for a while.

You know, Gruden is who he is. He's a QB coach, not a head coach.

Re: Redskins trade for Alex Smith

Can I throw out a different (slightly) take on this.

How many Skins fans remember letting Brad Johnson go at age 32, then he went to Tampa Bay and at age 34, won the Superbowl.

I am not guaranteeing AS will win a SB with us, but I think we have the opportunity to be on the right side of that type of transaction this time, and with the rules that protect QB's we have every reason to expect that AS can play for most if not all of his extension.

I agree, after making well over 40 million in 2 years, Cousins still needed his ego to be stroked.
