Give me your one dream free agent for the team and then after your wet dream free agent choice, give me the one realistic free agent you like to see on the team.

My dream free agent: Muhammad Wilkerson. This guy would be the stud along the dline to take the defense to the next level. I got him over Miller and Jeffery.

The more realistic is ILB Danny Trevathan. He can cover, great tackler, and can get to the running back. I got him over Marvin Jones WR and Snacks Damon Harris NT

Who the f$ck do you got?
I like your preface. Any linebacker from Denver. Before I read your complete post, I was thinking Trevathan. I like Marvin Jones, but I hope we keep Jackson, Garcon, Crowder as our big 3 for next season. Jones is too expensive for a # 4 i'm assuming.

Won't complain about anyone on the offensive or defensive line.

1 or 2 solid free agents and another solid draft class, I'd take it!

I'd take him, but only if he'd take a 1 or 2 year deal. He can probably get more than that somewhere.

Marvin Jones would be the replacement or eventual replacement for Garcon.

Folks our WR position after this season isn't good. That's why if we take one in the second round this year it would be a zero surprise. Wil Fuller would be my choice.

Id like Marvin Jones, unfortunately WR position is thin in Free Agency and Jones is gonna get overpaid.

McC could go Kearse out of Seattle as a FA pick up... I wouldn't be mad.

Re: Who is your dream free agent?

People use common sense. Miller and Norman will be franchised.

I'd have to say Wilkerson. He would make everyone better on the front 7. Bring him in and then bring back Gallete, now we're on our way to being a lot more disruptive.

But you think Wilkerson will see FA?

probably not, but I think Norman, Miller and Berry are locks not to see free agency. Wilkerson isn't a lock imo. I don't think Jeffery is a lock either.

The thing about Wilkerson is the number of free agents the Jets have to deal with...

And their depth along that line makes it such that paying a lot for Wilkerson may not make sense. Leonard Williams fell to them and they scooped him as BPA, but that was a luxury pick at an already loaded position for them.

The Free Agent Hot 100 | ProFootballTalk

Actually a decent list.

You know, Eric Weddle at FS with the connection with Joe Barry over Goldson? That is something I wouldn't be opposed to on a 1-2 year deal.

On paper I like the idea of Weddle, but two concerns. 1, would he really be that much cheaper on a one year deal than what we're about to pay Goldson, $8M? If anything Weddle might be pricier. Goldson is overpaid at that $8M figure but Weddle figures in line to get $8 - $10M on a one year deal.

Second concern, unless we're talking about a longer term and legitimate solution, I hesitate to let Goldson walk because of the impact it has on the locker room. I hated the Vinny culture, let our own players go and bring in the new hot free agent. It especially hits morale in the locker room when it happens to a highly respected player like Goldson.

I like the culture you breed when you draft your own and care for your own. Granted Goldson wasn't drafted but he's respected, and I want our young guys to have good examples to look up to, and I want them to see those kinds of guys being rewarded.

It's a philosophy that doesn't pay off on paper with talent but it pays off in the form of culture, work ethic, and attitude. If the next Sean Taylor was hitting free agency then it'd be different, but for Weddle at this stage of his career? I don't know.

Yeah I'd agree. Considering Weddle's price and age, might as well just stick with Goldson another year and try to restructure him.
