Re: Redskins June 2009 OTAs

Im not doubting Chase, i saw many of his games while at Mizzou. But IMO unless Colt beats out Collins for the 2 spot i see him being the odd man out for makin the roster. could be a practice team guy.
Collins had the leg up in Saunders offense but now with the change to the WCO he is the same as the other QB's and is getting long in the tooth. He is a vet in the age sense only,he doesnt have experience in this offense which leads me to believe he could be expendable. especially if Zorn wants to keep Chase around. I dont see them -the FO- cutting Brennan.

I think it'll go Campbell-Colt-Collins (Chase on the practice squad in 2009).

I think if Colt somehow wins the #2 job that will mean Collins gets cut. Chase the #3.

Personally I think it will remain JC-Collins-Colt. But we'll see.

With the pay Collins is getting i cant see him stepping down to the 3 spot. IMO its 2 or done for Todd. But yes i believe Colt will beat him out for the 2 spot. We dont hear much about Todd in OTA's and he has become nearly non-existant.it seems Zorn put Colt and Chase on the field more in camp. I hear Chase got alot of reps on the last day so it makes you wonder.

It could certainly be the end of the rope for Collins. He doesn't have much to offer if he's not playing. It's not like this is an offense he's extremely well versed in (unlike with Saunders). And at this point in his career, Campbell shouldn't really need to have another veteran on the roster to lean on.

Pretty much my rationale too with regard to the bolded part.

As far as not hearing about Collins not sure where I read it recently but he's been sharp in OTA's and his arm strength has been improved over last year, apparently he had a shoulder issue last year that hindered him a bit.

Re: Redskins June 2009 OTAs

i go to on nfl dot com to read about the OTA's and it just seemed each day it was about the other QB's. They must not like Todd.lol

I cant wait to see how it all pans out. im ready to see our offense in yr 2 of the WCO and im also ready to see our new Dline.

Colt and Chase are obviously a more interesting story line than a 37 year old career backup.

Here's what Zorn had to say about Chase

"I gave him more reps today than I have given him so far. He was probably a little surprised by that because I have been holding him back. But, he has done very well and he has improved. The things that I see with him are that he has a very accurate arm, a deceptive ball speed and he's picking up things every well. He has a tremendous amount of desire to play, he's asking the right questions and he's really preparing himself. So, you're going to be seeing him this preseason."

I guess the way I took it was he felt like he didn't work with the newbies enough last year. That's not really excusable when you use two of your first three draft picks on a position of such need.

Maybe I'm nitpicking. I hope that's the case.
Sounded more to me that he was saying that he wished they could've gotten more involved in game plans, not that he didn't get them ready. Of course you'll be hard pressed to find a position coach saying he might have slacked off.

Redskins.com: Hixon hopes to have more time to concentrate on football this year.

When asked about his underperforming group of wide recievers, Redskins recievers coach Stan Hixon said, "Last year was definitely tough. We were installing a totally new pool in my back yard, and cleaning out the garage is a process. Not to mention my neices highschool graduation. We held the family pot luck at our place, so my attention wasn't focused on the rookie second round draft picks as much as it should have been. I figured they'd adjust OK on their own. Looking back I think I should have tried coaching them a bit more perhaps."

Will the message boards (ES especially) break the internet if Colt is cut and our QB depth chart is Campbell, Collins, Chase? Man, it could get ugly around here.

Jay Gruden = Zorny McSpurrier
Kirk Cousins = Next Grossman
