I don't go into the strip club and throw all my money at the first girl that shows me attention. I wait for the second one.
Good to see you're still hanging around the forum, Dwayne.

Keep in touch.

Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021

Sam Darnold intrigues me only because Adam Gase sucks donkey balls. The kid has talent, and could probably be had pretty cheap, as the new regime takes over the Jetties.

I'd also take Teddy Bridgewater, who won in Minnesota before his crazy knee injury, and won 5 games for the Saints when Brees went down.

I wouldn't break the bank to get either (or really anyone else) at this point, but I also think those guys have serious upside potential.

But it feels like we have grown ups in charge now, so we'll see what they do.

Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021

i, honestly, think just about anyone is an upgrade over our current situation. I love the alex smith story, but hes not going to be reliable, and lacks the mobility that he once had. I hope he retires...not just for the team, but to ensure he doesnt have some sort of terrible injury. I know he can already tell when its going to rain from the pains in his joints. I shattered my femur into 15 pieces and broke my hip...so i know the lingering effects of a crazy injury, and im absolutely not an athlete in any sense of the word.
I want to see what heineken can do, but i question his durability. hopefully he gets a shot in camp. maybe hes the dude, maybe hes a journeyman. only time will tell.
see above for kyle allen as well.
draft will be a long shot, but i hope we take someone and try to groom them. no idea who. hopefully no crazy blockbuster trades to move up. we are cutting our nose to spite our own face then as we have a lot of other holes to fill (giggity)
i think carr, or darnold, or that tier of qb will be a great improvement over a bunch of injury prone guys, and a 2nd year qb that doesnt give a shit about anything but clout. so its exciting to see whatever direction the FO decides to go.

We almost certainly would have upped our bid, but Stafford wanted to go to Rams. We were perfectly willing to mortgage the future, but the Rams outbid us. Thus the restraint everyone sees was non-extant. Not that I think RR is a complete dunce like Snyder or Cerrato.

What makes you say that? Do you have some inside information that no one else has seen? RR didn't overpay for A Cooper last offseason. They put in a fair offer, and when Dallas offered $37M more in guaranteed, they said - bubbye.

I watched the Marty, Martin, Rivera press conference, and I'm pretty sure I heard, over and over again, that they weren't willing to mortgage the future for any position, even the most important one - QB. They want to find a balance between finding that guy, aggressively pursuing him, but also being to protect him, give him weapons, and build the team around him.

It can be done... There's never just one way to skin a cat.

A side note on the front office pursuing trades. An NFC opponent (the Rams) just paid a ton in draft capital to get Stafford. One reason that happened is because other teams like the WFT put in offers that the Rams had to beat. I would have liked to have Stafford, but I also like that our FO seems to know how to put a reasonable bid together that either wins or forces a team to go to an over the top bid (ie Cooper and Stafford). Whether they intend to or not, it gives an air of confidence to their trades that they won't get bullied past their "ok" spot, and that they seem to have fall back positions that may not be as terrific as the hot market, but cover the bases at least.

Could be rose colored glasses, but I say getting in the mud and making everyone put honest bids in is an unheralded part of the process.

I don't disagree with this. Gase has basically rode Peyton's endorsement ever since he let Peyton run the show his last couple years in the league. If we had to take a flyer because every other option didn't pan out, I'd kick the tires on Darnold. Tannehill had to escape Gase before Vrabel let him fly like the proud peacock he is.

It's OK to have an opinion and to share it, nobody is going to deride you for that (unless its a REALLY stupid opinion). But making out like you are the only one with a valid opinion, deriding everyone else in here like they are idiots and arguably worse SHOUTING your opinion, is only going to alienate you with everyone, whether they agree with your points or not.

I suggest you need to apply critical thinking to your own posts before posting them; put yourself in the shoes of a neutral and ask yourself how you are coming across. Are you trying to get your opinion heard as part of a group or are you trying to dominate the group and have your opinion agreed as the only truth? It isn't by the way.

I don't care if he calls me an idiot. As long as he can do it concisely in a couple paragraphs, and not in a post as long as an encyclopedia.

It helps when someone calling you an idiot actually makes sense too. Know what I mean you idiot?
