I refuse to believe that his "style of play" is what's going to suddenly have him crumbling into a puddle of injury-prone mediocrity. This is also assuming the other guys in the league AREN'T running QBs. If you look at those stats, Luck is going to be out of the league in a year! TOO MANY HITS!!!!!!!! OMGZZ!1!11!

Re: Giants at Redskins Post Game Thread
From playing College and High-School ball (which is not nearly as intense and draining on the body) I can tell you that playing nine games in a row with out a week off to let your body recoup is really tough. Basically if you are playing at 100%, like not taking it easy during the game, and really working at being the best on every play, its like being in a car accident, you know how you tense up right before impact, and your muscles / body is sore for a week or so after. You basically are causing you body to do that every play for 60 minutes with small breaks of relapse in between plays, which in my opinion from playing, that cool off period hurts worse then helping cause that's when the soreness kicks in and you start to cramp up.
I'm not saying their job is hard by any means... they get paid to play a game (was my dream before blowing out my ACL, and TCL, plus I'm to short to be an NFL O-Lineman 5'11") but the toll it takes on their bodies week in and week out is very intense. All that said I could see that they needed a week to "reduce the swelling" if you will, and hopefully the 10 day break between Turkey Day and Monday was a good second break so they can finish strong. |

Re: Giants at Redskins Post Game Thread
Eli Manning Height: 6-4 Weight: 218
Robert Griffin III: Height: 6-2 Weight: 217 Brett Favre: Height: 6'2" Weight: 222 I get that Griffin takes hits, but 2 other qbs above with similar build had extremely long "injury free" streaks. Eli rarely takes hits, Favre though was hit fairly frequently in his time in the league, in fact in his first 10 years was sacked more than 25 times in 9 of them. Add in the protection given to qb's nowadays, and the whole hit issue seems like a bit of a red herring. Now of course, if he were to go down, a lot of people would be saying see!!!, but fact is every year quarterbacks go down. Brady has, Stafford has, Romo has been concussed several times I believe, Aikman left due to concussions. It is a brutal sport, and if teams know that the qb is dangerous, they will want to take as many hits on him as they get paid for (oops, I mean as they can). On the other hand, since I'm out in Saint Louis right now the Ed Jones Dome only holds 66,000 and is roofed as opposed to Fed Ex which is at 91,704 and open. Ed Jones Dome can get very loud, but from being in that stadium it's like half the size of fed ex, and there is no where for the sound to escape. The Cowgirls have the same problem with their new stadium. People talk about RFK but again it was a small stadium. It held 46,000 and in a tight knit circle, it was basically a giant subwoofer. |

Earlier in the season, Griffin commented that he's incredibly sore after most games, but he's tough and takes good care of his body so he can recover. His body wont continue to recover so quickly indefinitely. Anyone who thinks Griffin can continue to play exactly like he's playing now and continue taking the kind of hits he's taking for the next 5-10 years is foolish. Hopefully, we'll have a better pass-blocking offensive line and RGIII will become more adept at avoiding the big hits in subsequent seasons.

RG3 has room to put on some more weight. I wouldn't be surprised to see him bulk up some more in the coming years.
