My problem with this system is that for some reason the NBA has decided not to televise the "random" selection of the lottery positions. Remember the ping-pong balls? Now they only televise the results. This makes me suspicious.

Well, I don't know how much that would help. They have allowed reporters to see the process. But I think that televising it live would be only to appease those who are already have a preconceived notion that it's all rigged. And then if there's an error or glitch or whatever and they have to start over then those people will be like "See I told you so!!!"

Well, they used to show the ping pong balls being picked out. Why stop?

Did an error or glitch happen when they used to do it live all the time? As far as I know, that format was not broken. Are there any reporters that have witnessed the random selection privately that we recognize as credible reporters?

I didn't have any suspicion about the draft until they decided to do the random drawing private. Yes, I agree the only reason televise it would be to appease those who are suspicious. I am sure that the NBA knows this. There must be a higher value to them than appeasing us "conspiracy theorists" since they are keeping it secret. I would like to know what that value is.

Nice pick.

I also heard a report that Rashard Lewis and Andray Blatche WILL both be gone before the draft.

They're going to be one of the youngest teams in the league.

Guess they'll probably cut one and amnesty the other. If they can actually get anything for either...we'll have won the off-season

Blatche and Lewis are freaking horrible, my fear is we would draft someone in their similar soft style. We need physical play, and I thought the accusition of Nene was a good start.

Anthony Davis has a chance to be good, but im not sold. Thomas could be a better player in the long run.

But everytime I watch Kentucky play, always more impressed with Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, the guy is lockdown on defense, great size, decent scorer. A good friend who is a huge college b-ball fan said he was amazed Davis was out-hyping Kidd-Gilchrist, Gilchrist was hands down the better player.

Wizards trade Rashard Lewis, No. 46 draft pick to New Orleans for Emeka Okafor, Trevor Ariza - Wizards Insider - The Washington Post

Pros: Changing the culture with proven vets who work hard. Proving to Wall that the organization is doing whatever it can to make his job easier. Solidifies a front court, balancing rebounding (Okafor) with scoring (Nene/Seraphin). Ariza can also spread the floor from the forward position, which is a major area of need.

Cons: There goes the cap space. Okafor's got an injury history, like Nene. Hopefully, this won't take minutes away from young guys like Seraphin and Booker (and even though I didn't like the Vesely pick, how do we evaluate him without proper burn?)... but there's no way Okafor's going to sit on the bench with that contract.

In all, I'm ok with the move. I guess the Wiz are hedging their bets with two centers that have injury problems. I'm not sure how many quality free agents would have come here, regardless of how much space the team had in a year. I think the biggest net is making sure Wall doesn't bolt after his contract is up.

Makes me even more convinced that they're going to take Beal or MKG. Granted Robinson is the likely #2 overall pick anyway but there was the notion that he was their favorite after Davis.

I was thinking Beal or MKG all along. We still need shooters, so I'm pulling for Beal. Let's not hope someone trades up to snag him at 2.
