San Diego Chargers plan to release DE Luis Castillo, source says - ESPN
I was hoping we would take a look at him when I saw the news. He is better than Carriker, unless he wants big money.

why do you think he's better than Carriker and Carriker had 5.5 sacks last year...not bad for a 3-4 End.

You are right, Carriker did play good last year. But let's compare both careers stats; Castillo: 210 tackles and 19 sacks, Carriker: 124 tackles and 9 sacks. Carriker is only one year younger. But Lotus did bring up good point, I forgot about the fact that Castillo broke his leg last season. I would not be upset if we resign Carriker instead, I'm just saying that I think we should check out Castillo and see if it might work out for both.

A lot of the sacks that Orakpo "earned" were actually collected by Carriker, Neild, and Bowen. Which, I mean, someone needs to tackle the quarterback, or you don't get the sack, but whoever would have been playing LDE instead of Carriker would have had the same opportunity.

I like Castillo but he is 28 and recovering from a broken leg.
