Re: Peyton Manning or RGIII your choice
You gotta respect Manning's passion for the game and competitive will. Assuming he'd play here, if team doctors check him out and are satisfied, there's absolutely no shame in "taking the risk" on Peyton Manning in 2012.

Re: Peyton Manning or RGIII your choice
Any team that picks up Manning has to be damn sure about his health and ability to play. I am sure that a lot of conflicting reports will surface between now and whenever Manning has to start meeting with team doctors as part of him being on the market.

Re: Peyton Manning or RGIII your choice
Yeah one day after Irsay says that he'd love to have Manning back if he wants to work out the contract... Irsay is all over the place. He keeps saying he wants to keep the business in house, yet he can't keep his mouth shut to save his life.

Re: Peyton Manning or RGIII your choice
This is more spin control by the Colts who have been feeling the public backlash for the past 24 hours since Irsays latest comments.

Re: Peyton Manning or RGIII your choice
Just watched a piece on ESPN about Irsay and apparently he and his father are recovering alcoholics. I loosely can quote him as saying, "Alcoholism is a disease that is 7 trillion and 0. A technical knockout every time." Maybe the stress of PM and the offseason turmoil was too much for him to handle and he's back on the bottle. Might explain his erratic behavior. Hate to see that be the case.

Re: Peyton Manning or RGIII your choice
This reminds of what happened to Bill Ward, original drummer of Black Sabbath. They basically offered him a contract that was unsignable for the reunion tour. So publicly they can spin it as "Hey we offered him a contract, but he didn't sign."
I think Irasy is doing the same, to save face. Offer Peyton an unsignable contract. So to the public, he can spin that he wanted Peyton to stay, but Peyton wanted to leave.

Re: Peyton Manning or RGIII your choice
It's to the point where I'm just pretending everything I hear is coming from PFT. Whatever happens, happens. I think we've analyzed this situation to the nth degree, now I'm just going to sit back and stay occupied with real life until something finally does happen besides talk.

I feel like it's a trap. However if he brings in someone like a Flynn or Hoyer, drafts a 2nd tier QB, picks up a WR or 2 in FA, and drafts a WR, hopefully trading back like last year to create more opportunities to get something right he has a better opportunity to capitalize on his return. 1- a young FA QB 2- a young drafted QB that alone is 2 more chances to get something right. 3- 2 FA WR's 4- 1 drafted WR that alone gives us 3 chances to get decent production. and if they took another QB late in the draft with some OL, and a FS the team should better off along with the fact they would have a full compliment of picks the following year to again get more talent on this team. |

the big news though is that he had 4 surgeries vs. what everyone thought was only 3. He kept one secret but again on the readio their saying most likely this is something most teams knew about but the fans wouldn't have knowledge of. |

This article simply points out exactly what another article actually mentioned and that was RGIII has great long ball accuracy. Timing is great on his deep ball also. Basically put he can throw the deep ball and he can throw the short ball but he has trouble with the intermediate routes which might be the only thing open with the 3-4 zone defenses. |

Re: Peyton Manning or RGIII your choice
Those that are not ready to leave the game but have to coach. With his knowledge right now he'd be better served retiring and getting picked up as a QB coach assistant to which he can pass on all his knowledge about the QB position and the offensive scheme he was apart of for so many years. Which is why I was hoping we would go get him.

Re: Peyton Manning or RGIII your choice
To be fair to Irsay, he is in a tough spot which I don't envy. If Manning walks then Irsay is the bad man who chased the greatest Colt in history out of town. If he keeps Manning then he's out $28 million for a QB who may not be durable and who may stand in the way of a reloaded future. Irsay is kind of damned-if-you-do, damned-if-you-don't.
