Same here. Plus, a healthy Manning throwing to Colston would probably mean similar production as he had in New Orleans.

o sign a developmental/journeyman FA QB
Gonzalez hasn't been healthy in the league. When was the last time he stayed healthy and produced. Besides we should be targeting Pierre garcon, he's better.

But really it doesn't matter, because eddie royal seems like a lock to come here, no sense in 2 slot WRs.

And Soliai isn't happening, sorry to burst your bubble. We aren't signing 2 NT's back to back/moving one of them out of position.

Also this. The only thing I don't like is Colston's age. I hope I'm wrong on this but I believe he's 28 or 29, and his injury history doesn't bode well for his future. When healthy he's a very solid wideout.

Gotcha.

I personally think that Peyton and Wayne are a packaged deal. It'll be one of those things Peyton will dictate to whichever team signs him. Also keep in mind the Skins were pretty interested in Wayne last time he was set to become a free agent.

Cofield would be a much better player as a DE (especially if Carriker is gone) and Soliai would be a much better fit as a NT. The only reason we are probably not get him is because of money (and for some reason JH/MS refuse to get a true 3-4 NT).

He'll be 29 when the season starts. I like him, but I also wonder how much of his success is a function of Drew Brees and that offense. I'll put it this way, I don't think his best years are ahead of him.

Yeah like 5 years ago before MS and BA were here. But there may be some truth about Wayne and PM being a package deal. Personally I would rather have one of the younger FA WRs like Colston or Bowe.

Yeah but do you think there would be much of a drop off between Brees and Manning? I would understand this argument if we were having a rookie like RG3 or Orton throwing to Colston. My only concern about Colston is his health. Otherwise, I think the guy is a beast, without the attitude issues that Bowe has or the off field troubles that VJax has.

That's a very important question too. I would hope if we signed Manning he'd be able to duplicate his production. But the question of how successful he'll be without Brees won't be able to be answered before he signs with another team. Quite honestly I'm not a big fan of this FA WR class. There are playmakers in it, but I don't see any of them having a long term future of the team that signs them. And all have significant question marks. That's why if we do upgrade wide receiver, I hope we go the draft route.

But if we did sign Manning, I wouldn't be opposed to Colston too much simply because Colston should be able to be productive while Manning plays, which I'd be comfortable with. I don't think Colston is one of those guys who can play into his late 30's though.

Yeah thats what I mentioned as the second part of my answer. And true we for some reason don't want a True NT. Cofields good enough to be one in the league. IF we did get soliai we could have a beast DL similar to the packers in '10 with Cullen Jenkins (Jarvis/Bowen), Pickett(Cofield), Soliai (BJ raji). That would be BEAST. But again not happening. We get Jarvis back, hopefully (knock on wood) he looks a lot like he did last year in the preseason. But we need to be cautious because he is a 300+lb man on a recovering knee trying to get back to pro football with a family history of torn ACLs. He may not ever be the same...

Damn, I mean Wayne is good but Peyton's arm is ridiculous.

If we have Peyton, we better have good interior linemen. It seems that he always has a pocket to step into in a lot of those throws.

Here are some Colston highlights...

Well, IF Peyton is who he's always been, then no, I don't think there would be much of a drop off. I just have serious doubts he'll ever have the arm he did pre-neck fusion surgery. I mean, he apparently can't throw to his left and has no velocity.

A lot of MC's plays are Brees hitting him where only he can get to the ball. Peyton, IF healthy, can do that. MC isn't exactly the flashy WR that Dwayne Bowe or DeSean is, but he gets the job done, and is NOT a headcase like most of the FA WR's this year.
