Perhaps you are right.

I bolded the part that made me to think that Kyle meant Rex as the best playmaker for offense, not the QB position specifically.

I tended to focus more on the part where he said when we took Rex out those three games, we stopped making plays

That makes sense.. Either way, it's moot to nitpick Kyle's comments about Rex now that we are searching for a new QB.
