Nope. I'd much rather call everyone else idiots and cling to my title of smartest person in the world.

Re: 2012 QB Class
Heres a Realistic claim. How many mobile QB's have won a super bowl? 1! There has been 45 super bowls and out of those 1 super bowl has been won by a mobile QB. Just right there I'll take my chances on a non-mobile QB. Mobile QB's rely on either one of two things (or both); their athleticism and their arm. Non-mobile QB's rely on many things, some of which are their football IQ. Mike Vick relies on his legs and his strong arm. Cam Newton = legs and arm. McNabb = arm (used to be legs too). Jason Campbell = arm and legs. Tavaris Jackson = arm, legs. Randall Cunningham = arm and legs. Warren Moon = arm.
Now lets just look at the last 3 super bowl winning QB's. Rodgers = arm, great football IQ, accuracy, legs, great at changing play calls, Brees= accurate, great at changing play calls, great football IQ, good pocket awareness Roethlisberger = tough, relies on his feet to extend plays, good football IQ, clutch. It's just like in the NBA. Why is it so many non athletic players are always shoved down late in the draft or just not drafted at all? Take Jimmer Fredette. He was the CBBall player of the year last year and what was it that talent evaluators said "He's too slow for the NBA...He's not that aggressive nor a good defender...he's not tall enough. He can only shoot threes" translation. He's not athletic. And why would he be drafted high? The NBA is over 90% explosive, athletic players who are more taller. Not saying non athletic people can't play in the NBA, but its just not as likely to find a non-athletic person that can do all that when theirs already so many good athletes in the NBA that can do that for that sport. Until another mobile QB wins the Super Bowl, I'm going to lean towards us getting an accurate, intelligent QB until then. And RGIII, who is mobile and accurate, which is rare for a mobile QB, isn't coming out this year according to reports.

Re: 2012 QB Class
Stupid argument considering there are presently only 3 non-white QBs starting in the NFL.
The odds are stacked against seeing an African American QB win a SB in the near future. |

In the future there will be more and more black qb's because more young black athletes will want to play that position now. They have more black qb's to idolize. Once that happens, there will be plenty of Super bowl winning black qb's, I promise. I just hope Mike Vicks not the second. We can't play the game like it was in the past, we gotta evolve. Until recently I was old school. Defense and a running game and all you need is a decent qb having a decent year and a super bowl is attainable. But now that I think of it, since Trent Dilfer won it, every team that wins has a franchise stud QB. Its a qb driven league. I think the worst one in that time was Eli Manning and he's pretty damn good. The point is we need a QB, first pick and someone to throw to second pick.

Re: 2012 QB Class
All this white v black QB has always made me laugh, considering I'd take Cam Newton over any QB in the league right now other than Rodgers and Brady

Re: 2012 QB Class
I think every team looks for a smart, mobile, and accurate QB or atleast one that has the best and most of those qualities.
we have the smart (Grossman) and we have the mobile (Beck) but we just don't have the accurate in either of them. Hopefully one of the QB's is still on the table when we are able to draft that has all 3 qualities. |

Just a reminder where it all started:
Black Quarterback Pioneer: Remembering James Harris - Associated Content from Yahoo! - associatedcontent.com In addition to his skill on the field, the guy was instrumental in assembling the successfull Ravens & Jaguars teams of the 2000's. I would suggest he has a little "Football IQ".
