I think the whole Rex-Beck competition was a hoax from the get go. They did it to take the pressure off QB at the draft, and to keep the fans from starting threads similar to this.

They don't care what the hell we think. Shanahan might be deceptive about a lot of things, but competition is most certainly NOT one of those things.
