Re: Rex Grossman Named Starting QB

I have been so 50-50 on who I wanted starting, but as I argued with neighbors I found myself sticking up for Rex more than Beck. I think its a good choice. I think the way we played as a whole, regardless of W and L in the preseason, was one of the deciding factors Rex was chosen. If we looked horrible, and still looking as though we were overmatched, I think Beck would have gotten the call even if he was outplayed by Rex. I think because we looked good in preseason, moved the ball well against #1's fairly effectively, Shanny decided to go with the experience of Rex, his understanding of the offense, and the way the locker room has been behind him. I think the teams building confidence in themselves and the bright spots we witnessed in preseason is giving the team and the coaches the confidence that we may not be as far off as what they originally thought. They were going to give Beck a shot to prove himself, but like I said i think during the preseason it looked like we have improved leaps and bounds and giving Rex the job sends a message that I want to win, I expect to win and compete for the division. Starting Beck would still have signified that we are building, going to see what we have in Beck, and I think would have been a little deflating to the preseason efforts of the entire team.
