Carroll wants a drop back passer VY isn't that.

I can't really picture him in Seattle either.

Seriously. If you're gonna dictionary.com such words as "sophist" and "argumentation," you'd think you'd at least spell the word "conveniently" correctly. Haha.

Might the pain pills have also addled your mind enough to cause you to express your support of John Beck as our starting QB? Just say that you don't remember typing any such thing and I'll believe you.

Seriously, I hope you get well soon.

Thanks KI, appreciate it.

Back to the QB siutation though. I found a diamond out of the Rush on ESPN disaster.

Quote:
STEVE YOUNG: But I'll tell you what. I'll say it even more strongly, Tom. When they're winning, nobody makes more plays --

TOM JACKSON: Right.

STEVE YOUNG: -- with his arm --

TOM JACKSON: Than Donovan McNabb.

STEVE YOUNG: -- than Donovan McNabb. That guy is really one of the best in the league at making plays.

TOM JACKSON: Well, I --

STEVE YOUNG: BUT making plays does not win championships. Running the offense does. So at some point I think --

TOM JACKSON: Gotta run the offense.

STEVE YOUNG: -- that Koy Detmer looks like a better option because he'll go in there (crosstalk), drop back, and throw the ball correctly.

CHRIS BERMAN: Isn't it odd that last year with the broken leg -- I know it was Arizona, but -- the one time he was in the pocket he looked great. Right?

STEVE YOUNG: He had to run that offense.
McNabb's problem has always been actually running the offense.

Bro, I posted that in another thread in regards to either Newton, Vick or McNabb. People are so concerned and thrilled by ESPN highlights that they don't see the big picture overall. Which is, the consistency of the offense. Moving the ball, converting 3rd downs, and finally punching it into the end zone. If you look at the stats I posted on the other page, a good portion of McNabbs completions were to RBs. Hell, I thought Jason Campbell was a check down king, guess he learned from McNabb.

Part of the west coast offense Reid runs involves dumps to the backs, much like what Walsh did in SF. It's an extension of the running game, not a knock on their QB.

McCoy had 78 catches last year without DM.

His offense is a pass happy one as well, but he still didn't put up the kind of numbers one might have expected. McNabb's problem has always been the short/intermediate throw. However, those are the throws that move the chains and make the offense efficient.

With McNabb, you either get the RB dump off or the 40 yard bomb. As we saw this past year, he missed more often than not on the bombs. (still better than Campbell was)

Exactly. Look at how many receptions Roger Craig had with Walsh's Niners back in the 80's

Well he would have completed more bombs if Galloway wasn't so awful this past year

Yeah, but Montana also managed to send Taylor, Rice, and Clark to either the Pro-Bowl/Hall of Fame based off of his output. Only person McNabb made look good was Staley/Westbrook.

Most of those bombs were because he overthrew them. You can't put that on Joey. That said, I do agree with you that Galloway was beyond horrible.

Yeah but with all due respect to McNabb theres a difference between checking down to a RB with a quick curl on 3rd and long and allowing someone like Brian Westbrook in his prime to get the ball in space. You also look at the Rams when they were the greatest show on turf and in 1999 Faulk had a 1,000 yards receiving to go with a 1,300 yards rushing (probably the best single season by a running back in the history of the NFL).

McNabb's problem is not making the proper reads and setting his feet properly, and I know hindsight is 20/20 but we should have known that this would have been a disaster. It's why Rex Grossman looks better running the offense, because he makes proper reads and does a better job of setting his feet.

Take it back, take it back right now or I'll go after you like Adam Carriker on Jeremy Jarmon in the weight room.

Outside of TO he didn't have much to work with at WR for most of his time in Philly
