Re: Stanley Cup Playoffs 2010
We might not suck during the reg season but it's looking more and more like we have a team full of big time chokers. This is a fucking joke.

In order to win game 7 (which I don't think we deserve to win) we need: (1) Start Theo. Varly had 2 good games in Montreal, and that was it. Now he's back to the old Varly who can make some spectacular saves, but he lets in the easy ones. Theo is our guy for game 7 - no question about it. (2) Dominate the crease and take screen shots. Obviously the fancy stuff isn't going to work. Montreal has our number on that stuff, so we need to try something different. (3) Make Mike Green learn how to play his position, or move him up to forward. When he skates around the ice like some sort of "saftey" he kills us. I saw on multiple 5 on 5 situations where Ovechkin had to drop back and play D because Green was pinching in too much. That is unacceptable. Ovechkin should never have to drop back to play D during a 5 on 5. The list can go on, but I need to get back to work...

the part i dont agree with is the comment that ovie shouldnt have to back check on 5 on 5. in playoff hockey, all 5 skaters must back check and mark their man. if ovies guy is past the blue line, ovies butt better be past the blueline. i would also start theo, i wouldnt have switched goalies half way thru game 1 either but thats bruce's call and hes been making pretty good ones so far. id just like to welcome all the new (i wont call ya bandwagon) caps fans they have gained over the past few years, playoff hockey actually kinda sorta looks like how hockey is supposed to look. you know, pre-1998 rule changes to compliment the russian speedsters like pavel bure, teammu selanne and make hockey more exciting for americans. you crash the net, you back check your ass off and dont take stupid penalties.

I know what you mean about the bandwagon fans. I've been playing hockey for close to 17 years. I played for UMD, and grew up in Frederick playing for the Phantoms turned Fury. It's tough to see all of these people who act like they've been caps fans and have followed the team forever. But, hey - at least they can't say our fanbase is weak anymore...haha. Its bound to happen when a team gets good...you know?

back in teh day we had caps season tickets from the mid 80s to mid 90s. saw every freakin game they played, got to go back in the locker room. they would send us all-paid to see playoff games. shoot, the caps gave me and my brother official official caps equipment. each set probably cost thousands upon thousands of dollars. now that i think about it, that might have been when they were still wearing the red white and blue but switched to that god awful blue and gold. don beaupre goalie sticks, lou fransecitti sticks, langway, bondra, bobby gould, etc.. it was a different time back then, when hockey players were nothing more than guys who played hockey. JLW you remember LOUUUUUUUUUUU! he was the man. i do find it hard to root for the caps now thoo, dont know why, maybe subconciously i do hold something against this new breed of caps fans who dont know ridley, miller, pivonka, gustafson, murphy, langway, dino, sheehy, john trip over the blue line druce, sally johanson, bob mason, pete peeters, etc.... its weird, i should be happy that the caps are now the pens of the 90's with their high scoring offense. so many years of blue collar scrap it out hockey got replaced by 4 on 4s and rules enforced to open the ice.

Re: Stanley Cup Playoffs 2010
Theo wasn't yanked game 1, he started and played the entire game 1 and we lost in OT. After a game two start and two shots on and two goals later he was yanked, just as he should have been. Varly came in to relieve in game 2 and we came back to win.
Game 7 who knows what direction Gabby goes. We need to attack the net, stay in the crease and play grind it out hockey. Stop aiming the puck for small areas in the net and just pepper the shit outta halak and capitalize on the rebounds (keep there asses planted in his face/the crease) and get some dirty goals. We will get this thing, we won't loss three straight! GO CAPS!!!!! Quote:
