Why do we really need or want to move up in this years draft. Why risk paying so much money to a QB that had only 1 full year as a stater at USC.
I like Sanchez as a person but our team doesn't and cant afford to waste a high draft pick on a QB when you have a decent QB in Campbell. When you have only 5 picks you better get it right or our team is not much better than last season. We are paying for giving up picks the last few years for free agents that have not worked out... Good Job front office...

That's true, Lotus. Also, Jason could have simply responded to a "If they draft a QB would you ask for a trade?" question.

Okay, my five minutes of quasi-panic are over. I'm back to "draft for immediate need" mindset now. I actually think we'll try to trade down and secure 2 lineman (OT and DE) and a linebacker by the end of the 3rd round. If we stay at 13, I think we'll grab a USC LBer.

Here's my questions. If we do get Sanchez then who starts? You'll have two guys who haven't thrown a snap in a REAL game and Collins. Who wins? If you mortgage your future for a pick then he has to start right? What happens when he does? You're going to start a guy you just drafted over two guys who already know the system, one of which rallied the team to the play-offs by beating Chicago, NY, and Dallas?

Danny boy, beware of the Cult of Colt!
If they pull off a move for Sanchez, he's going to start. I don't think that's even a question.

I put as much credence in this story as I do the story, "The Redskins have signed Santa Claus to play defensive back."

People thought the Cutler trade crap was a bunch of BS also!!!! Do you think with all of this possible Sanchez talk that JC is happy right after the the Cutler affair? It is quite obvious now that the FO does not think JC is the franchise guy and might as well use him as trade bait somehow. JC isn't dumb and knows what it all means. I give the story credence just based on the common sense of it all. JC has been slapped in the face twice in the span of a month.

JC leaving DC would make it a great weekend! I am so tired of his lackluster play.

I'm personally tired of people focusing solely on the QB and non of whats going on around him (like no one being able to pass block)

Unless we draft Sanchez and then trade Campbell for a first (obviously wont happen) or high 2nd, I will not be happy.

I still think the Cutler trade crap may have been just crap. A news story ran that we offered the farm for Cutler without any evidence and then everyone else repeated the same unverified story. Now for some people that story has become the gospel truth because the story has been repeated so many times, despite the fact that no one knows what was discussed outside of the people in the Denver and Washington front offices. I'm not saying I know the truth about what happened - I don't - but I also don't trust rumors no matter how many times they are repeated.

This story about JC demanding a trade is different from the Cutler crap, anyway. This story about JC demanding a trade is wading through so much b.s. that it had better wear its tall boots. This story tells me more about Wyche's desperation for a draft-week story than it tells me anything about JC or the Redskins.

Be careful what you wish for!!!!!!!!! I am not really sold on JC being our next true franchise guy, but I know he is a good enough QB to at least keep him around to get his final grade so to speak. Sanchez only had been the man for only one season in USC. Pete Carroll even said he wasn't ready for the NFL. A Brennan and Sanchez mix would possibly relive 1994-5 with Schuler and Frerotte. Good ole Gus gave it his best, but it wasn't enough. What happens if Brennan isn't the guy either? Sure he has most of the NCAA passing records, but they were padded stats with the weak ass whack jobs Hawaii played. Shoot, I could probably get a team of local ex jocks around my area together and post at least a 11-1 record playing a Hawaii schedule. As for Sanchez, he was surrounded by a totally stacked team playing in a weak ass conference himself. Also USC doesn't have a good rep for QB play in the NFL for the longest time. Why is that? When you are a QB on a team totally stacked with talent, even an average QB looks damn good!!!!! ALso keeping the fossil Collins around isn't cool either unless you are prepared to make him the starter!!!! IS that what you want?

This is what has me thinking that a lot of this is b.s. Every story we read is just rehashing what they have heard/read from someone else who doesnt even have credible sources.

I hope this whole thing is an elaborate hoax to get a team near us to draft Sanchez instead of Oher or Orakapo... Does anyone think that maybe vinnie asked JC to demand a trade to make it seem more substantial?

Re: Campbell will ask for trade if Redskins draft a QB

What I'm most dismayed about is how this time last year Vinny was named to the Executive VP role, and we were all saying finally we can pin the success/failure of the team on him because he has final say-so.

Clearly that is not the case, and Dan Snyder is back to getting his hands very deep into football operations.

This sucks.

I would be so happy if this happens. It's the best case scenario and the smartest thing the front office could do.

Therefore. "Welcome to the team Mr. Sanchez!"

Another Gus mention... unbelievable.

Are you related to him or something? I don't get the fascination.

Not to mention, when have the Skins ever drafted one of "Snyder's guys"? This isn't the first year that it's been reported that Snyder wants a particular player. I can't think of one player that was drafted because of Danny's desire for him.
