Seriously, it's like slapping dates and times on the opponents makes it big news. I love the NFL but all this hype over the schedule is getting way outta hand.

Hey man, for the hours, days, weeks, and months we put in to work with the league, teams, cities, other networks, other events on the schedule...we damn well better hype it up!

Seriously though, it is pretty over the top. But people watch it and it helps fulfill certain obligations.
