Re: 4-2 the rest of the way?
After I've had a couple of days to get that dallas game out of my mind, I still think that if the stars align just right that this team may still have a chance to make the playoffs. Provided that both the D-line and O-line play like a quality NFL unit. I'm sorry, but there is way too much talent on this team for it to not make the playoffs.
I would like to have someone try to explain to me why this team seems to play like crap during this part of the season. And then, during the last 4 or 5 games left to go, they somehow realize their potentail and start to play up to that. Oh yeah, I'm done with Springs on this team. This guy is suppose to be our #1 corner, but he can't get his ass off of the trainers' table. What quarter will this moist-ass come out of today with some whack-ass cankle injury? If Portis can man up, and put his gear on, and ball with his team, why can't Springs. I'm starting the recruit D. Hall to replace Springs movement. Hell, Hall could also spell the departure of R El, because he too isn't getting the job done. The only major contribution that ARE can be counted on during a season, is his little gimmick end of round option pass. Damn, I thought that I was over the dallas game! Now I'm pissed-off all over again. Thanks Skins, for ruining my day!

Nobody should expect that every season. And "way too much talent" ?? Who would that be? Portis and Moss when they're healthy, sure. Campbell is a game-manager, sort of like Kyle Orton. So he's not a game-changing quarterback yet. Cooley, while leading the team in catches, really has had a ho-hum year so far. Chris Samuels, again, when healthy, could start on any team in the league, but nobody else on among the front five could. That's it for offensive talent. Defensive talent? Pass rushers? NO. Dominant run stoppers? In the last couple of weeks, NO. Linebackers other than London Fletcher? NO. The real talent we have is at the secondary, and it's not a lights-out group. Smoot won't kill you, but there always seems to be a big pass completed against him at the worst time. Carlos Rogers and Chris Horton are the only real talents we have back there right now. Even LaRon Landry has fallen off a cliff this year. He's been nothing special. So really, exactly where is all of this "talent"? It's here and there at best with this team. And most of them come with the oft-used qualifier, when healthy. |

But yeah, all of our talent is stacked on the offensive side, while all of our depth is on the defensive side. So basically, we need the offense to get healthy and rescue the defense from mediocrity. If we get real healthy real fast, we'll make the playoffs and possibly even win the division if New York falls off their torrid pace. If the offensive injuries keep piling up, we're looking at 8 or 9 wins.
