Re: (updated title): Make Your Day One Redskins Draft Selections (Rounds 1-2)
nelson only had one good year, and he's slow (4.57 average, 4.52 peak), but he was consistent across opponents.
probably not an nfl star, but a good chance at being reliable. he won't get away with a lot of those plays on his highlights in the nfl (due to the fact that almost EVERYONE is going to be faster than him), but he's got good hands and no fear and seems like a good value in the late 3rd. |

Nelson had more production at receiver in college, is faster that Boldin, and will likely enjoy the same level of success, if not more, than AB had in Arizona after a few years. Nelson needs to been in burgundy and gold come the start of the season.

ESPN is reporting that 8 Defensive Lineman coming out are potential 1st round picks. Skins chances are very good at # 21 to grab one:
The 2008 NFL draft should feature at least eight defensive linemen selected in the first round. The most likely candidates include DEs Chris Long, Vernon Gholston, Phillip Merling, Derrick Harvey and Calais Campbell, and DTs Glenn Dorsey, Sedrick Ellis and Kentwan Balmer.

Next to franchise quarterback, an All-Pro DE or DT is probably the next most coveted place to find a star. |

AB breaks tackles like no other WR, while nelson's highlights show him making speed cuts against college players that are generally much slower than standard nfl fare. |

I never said anything about putting up 1500 yards. I said the JNelson will have comparable success in the NFL, to that of Anquan Boldin. As for career numbers, I wouldn't bet on anyone who hasn't made it to the league yet (he could easliy get hurt and have his career fold, and as I result I would lose. Nice try though). Jordy Nelson is probably one of the safest picks at the WR, easy.

I would bet he'd be consistent and that he could possibly put up decent numbers like a mike furrey, but drafted WRs without multiple years of proven success are generally a crapshot as far as nfl success, many don't produce till 3 years in, and we could improve more elsewhere immediately (like at DB, DL, OL, or safety) even in the bottom of the 3rd round. |

Just watch. Once he does his thing in the combine, he may make it to the bottom of the 1st round/early 2nd. He was only projected as a third, for the reason that you stated, because this was a breakout year for him and he never spent his entire career at the wR position (walked on as a safety). He would be a steal for us in the 3rd based off of the production alone, not to mention his versatility as a return specialist. Yes we need help in other places, but WR is a place we need to draft to build upon. He would bring the work ethic, toughness, and guile that is needed from a rookie receviver. PS Dont sleep, or you will miss the bandwagon ride to Jordy-ville!!!
