Re: Should Dockery Be Re-signed Before Free Agency Starts (next Friday)
Wouldn't want him to get a 40 million $$$$ deal , but would rather keep him than try and get another guy to learn the playbook when we have a young QB and an aging OL .

Re: Should Dockery Be Re-signed Before Free Agency Starts (next Friday)
no hutchinson a way better player. but were not talking about hutch. were talking about dock or stein. i would take dock i think he coming into his own. If were going to overpay like we always do. I would rather spend it on dock than someone else from another team. But hey i know you guys love FA because we never have any draft picks. I would rather keep my own.

Ohh i forgot we only give big signing bonuses to players from other teams not your own draft picks. Because you can sell more new jersheys instead of the ones already on the team. Duh

Re: Should Dockery Be Re-signed Before Free Agency Starts (next Friday)
Chief:
The problem is that the Skins should not overpay anyone - not a current member of the team nor a FA who played for someone else last year. However, we know that the Skins have this tendency to overpay based on past evidence. So, if they are in the situation where they are about to overpay someone and there are two possible players who will be the recipient of the overpayment, here's the rule I would use: If you must overpay someone, OVERPAY THE BETTER PLAYER. I don't care who he played for last year, get the best player even if you are going to pay more for him than he's worth. And Dockery isn't the best lineman on the team at the moment. He improved a lot last year and with that improvement, he moved just above the level of "average" as an OL. If any team gives him a monster contract, they are taking a HUGE risk and will be saddled with that contract for a while - - because no one will trade for Dockery if he comes with a monster contract strapped to his back. Oh, by the way, Steinbach is a significantly better guard than Dockery.

It has nothing to do with sucking up to the Skins... I'm just trying to figure out why you would blow the bank on a guy that's not even our best lineman.

Damn i dont rememeber anyone here last year caring about what we paid to players. Wow 10 mill here and there everywhere, for bums like lloyd, randel el,AA,carter. Worst of all throwing extra draft picks away on lloyd and duckett. But we have a chance to sign a good player to stay we cant pay him because he cant be the hightest paid olineman that laughable. We have the highest paid saftey in AA. you tell me he better than Taylor, shoot he not even beter than clark we let go last year. Where were you last year. We cant pay AA its not fair to taylor blah blah blah. We spent the most money on WR in the league 10 mill here and there where were you last yr talking about we cant spend it on WR. I didnt here you guys saying these guys shouldnt be paid as much as other wr. You guys were singing the FA tune all last year wow we can go around the cap blah blah blah. It doesnt matter lol. Now all the sudden we cant pay a good player that we developed that a shame. That why we will never win until we start paying our own. Why do you think the players on the team feel this way. Because they see it year in and year out we pay other player but never take care of our own.

Re: Should Dockery Be Re-signed Before Free Agency Starts (next Friday)
Well I guess if we don't care about the cap why do we spend so much time talking about it?
If money is no object let's just make Dockery the highest paid player in the league. I guess we should have just given Betts a bigger contract than Portis too. Hey, they're OUR guys. Pay them with no regard to the cap or the future. That will make up for our past mistakes!

Re: Should Dockery Be Re-signed Before Free Agency Starts (next Friday)
I think it comes down to that basic philosophical question. Does a player earn his money from his previously accomplished body of work (Archuleta) or for his potential future (Dockery)

Or do you just say F it and give him a blank check, and then convert him to another position.

Re: Should Dockery Be Re-signed Before Free Agency Starts (next Friday)
Not saying pay him the biggest contract in the league. No i was surprise that the skins actually paid betts that was very unusal for the skins. Since when does anyone in the skins management care about the cap. If they did we would have learn our lesson from 2000. But the last couple of year is proof we didnt. Im saying pay the man a fair contract instead of letting him leave and paying more for someone else like we alway do. But keeps towing the company line it been working for us, just keep siging other players is the way to go. Damn how many big FA have the colts sign in the last 5 year huh? How about the Pats, Bears,Panters, Steelers?? I bet all those team together couldnt have got near as many high price FA we have gotten in the last 5 yrs. Thank god we have all those SuperBowl trophies to show for our way of doing things.
