I remember hoping we draft Sapp & we took Westbrook. Norv decided to go w/Frerotte instead of Shuler & I know that Gus is still playing, but Shuler was playing just as well at the time. I thought Norv gave up on him too soon.
Norv has probably not recieved enough grief for being partially responsible for Art Monk's departure. Monk was ready to sign the Skin's offer, but Norv said his roster spot was already gone.
In all fairness, he put together some decent offenses here & it wasn't all his fault that some of those teams sucked. But if it weren't for the timing of JKC's death, Norv would've been fired after the awful 98 season.
There were alot of "experts" who thought alot of Shuler coming out of college. It was Shuler and Dilfer.

I was sad to see Monk in a Jets uni, but it was probably time for him to hang it up. Its rare to see a player play for one team his entire career (Emmitt Smith, Jerry Rice, etc.).
