Raiders Game Week Thread

Carroll says we can expect more of the rookie RB this week. https://www.nfl.com/news/pete-carrol...t-more-carries

Honestly, with Wise going out, that's not a bad call for them. We also got eaten alive by TEs last week, and they have two excellent ones. We need our LB and safety play to really step it up. Luvu has seemed (to me, at least) a bit invisible so far this season; Wagner is our team's Roy Kent. And apart from all that, i just hope we can get into an offensive rhythm this week -- I suspect JD5 will play (no need to announce that any time before we have to) because there's no way he will want to keep off the field, and frankly we need him to get on the same page with his receivers (not named Deebo).

LFG!

Re: Raiders Game Week Thread

Even if JD is at 90%, I would prefer for us to sit him and play Mariota. We still have 16 games plus playoff games so we need JD to be close to 100% healthy as much as possible.

Agree with the weak LB plays, although I'm kinda more concerned about Lattimore. He has been boom or bust ever since we got him, this has to be fixed ASAP.

We still need to remember that this is going to be our 3rd game so we are still working out the kinks. We can start to be concerned if we continue to play poorly in the next few games.

Re: Raiders Game Week Thread

All 3 of Geno’s picks were long passes to WRs and in the post game presser, Carroll said that they should have found the open guys underneath. We are going to get a heavy dose of Myers and Bowers - two very good TEs - all day, and more of a commitment to the run game for sure. I hope we show up looking to punch someone in the mouth. Need to get back on track right away. Good teams win the games they’re supposed to win - and this should be one of ours.

Crosby vs Conerly, F that! I would start Hartman and let him get killed.

Very interested to see how we look after that travesty at Lambeau. Carroll always fields a decent team and Oakland has some dudes with Geno, Jeanty, and Crosby. I was honestly surprised Chargers handled them so well. Just win baby!

Panic is not productive

Rest JD5 until he is ready to go. This isn’t must win.

Get back to running the ball with Bill and Chris Rod.

We found a replacement for Wise in Preston Smith. I forgot that he was available, I think this is kinda decent signing.

I think he was the third best option after Za'Darious Smith and Jadaveon Clowney, who were signed by our NFCE rivals Philly and Dallas, respectively. Who knows? Maybe sentimentality for being re-signed by the team that drafted him will bring out his best. Hope he has something left in the tank.

Re: Raiders Game Week Thread

I agree if JD5 is less than 90% fit they should seriously consider sitting him. If 90+ I say go, but lean on the run game. If they plan on going more than 60% pass again they're asking to get the QB killed while this line learns (and while Cosmi heals). Later in the season you probably have to risk it, but its early and a non-conference game. The only thing that concerns me with not playing JD5 is it's likely to set back building his rapport with the receivers. Really hope he's good to go and stays healthy throughout.

i know there is a separate thread but i can't find it on a Tapatalk:

RFK vote passed the 2nd vote 11-2

Now it goes to Congess which in normal years would be a rubber stamp but nowadays - who knows!

Think we see Wylie on the right side this game?

Re: Raiders Game Week Thread

Schedule is tough this year. This is a game at home that we should win. Not saying the Raiders aren't a good team just schedule gets much tougher as the season goes on. JD5 or not need to win this.

Pound the rock in this game, take the pressure off of the QB, whether it's a gimpy Jayden or Marcus who didn't have much time on task in camp.

Raiders are one of the poorer teams at stopping the run, take advantage. Plenty of Bill, hit them with Deebo several times, let CRod spell, let Marcus run some read options. Stay ahead of the chains, manageable down and distances so you don't let Crosby have a chance to tee off on Conerly.

Wishful thinking there, they have given up the 4th fewest yards on the ground through 2 games at a measly 3.2 yards a carry.

We might have to win this through the air.
