More people voted against trump then for him, yes it's that simple and a great case to dump the Electoral College.

So, that’s happened several times. Trump still would have won in a popular vote Only election this time. There’s always a small percentage of third parties getting the vote.

Popular vote is the votes you actually get and if you win more than the other candidates, you won the popular vote. Just because you don’t hit the 50% threshold doesn’t mean you lost the popular vote.

No Dem was going to win this election because the top 2 issues were inflation and immigration and that went against the Democrats. Kamala couldn’t escape that because she was part of the current administration. Other Dems also couldn’t escape that because Dems are in charge and Dems are getting the blame.

I get that IMO she did ok for a 12 week campaign against someone who had been running for 4 years.
