Re: Jayden Daniels - Commanders QB Thread

I will say I feel fine about him and it will work out, i think the only failure this year is if we miss the playoffs.

I posted that kind of tongue in cheek it just makes me laugh in the NFL how they like to build you up but love to tear you down.

that Pitt loss really burns in my mind that was a winnable game. Philly game was more like yourself after a fun night of partying (Pitt game) and trying to to get through the work day with a massive hangover. the timing of the Philly game couldn't have been worst.

Loss the Dallas game then you can start running around like a chicken with his head cut off.

The thing is this, JD5 was going to struggle at some point, he’s a rookie. Injury or not, there is a learning curve

He has played just too damn well out the gate.

Keep the faith folks. His poise and calm demeanor will help him thru rough patches, that’s where these intangibles come into play. The thing analytics know nothing about and are just as important in this league

I agree with this. Our pass protection has not been near as good of late. This combined with the fact that he hasn't been quite as good since the injury and he's a rookie are the main reasons he hasn't been quite as effective. Still think the kid will be great long term. I wouldn't be surprised if we see normal, incredible Jayden Sunday.

Let's go Commanders!

JD5 went from league MVP to struggling now to win ROY

How the might have fallen.
The rib injury has slowed him down a bit......there's still room for him to finish strong.

Don’t care about OROY - wins are all that matter. Would like to see him play well of course, but if we win and he’s playing well but not spectacularly, that’s ok by me.

I'm wondering what DQ, KK, Pritchard and Blough are saying to JD to get him in the right headspace? Not that they should all be bombarding him with advice (and over coaching him), but they should have the experience between them to get him back to the confidence level he started out with. Injury free, its got to be his head that's causing bad decisions etc., right?

It's difficult to figure out the culprits of the decline in offense performance with no insights into the offense meetings. There are a few possible factors: the rib injury, Kliff not calling right plays at right time, there are more tapes on JD which allows defenses to better understand his strengths/weaknesses, no consistent from BRob due to injuries, and/or simply luck falling into opponents' side.

Didn't he pick up the pace dramatically in the 4th Qtr vs Dallas? He threw an 86 yard TD pass that could have been the winning score for us if DQ had been paying proper attention to his kicker's problems and gone for a 2 pt conversion.

In short, I think he'll be fine from now on if he stays healthy. I'm more worried about KK and DQ getting their shit together than I am about JD5. I thought that both of them had very poor games against Dallas. IMO, their lack of awareness and aggressiveness were palpable. STs were terrible, too.

I thought his accuracy was better on Sunday. Didn't see many skipped passes. Goes without saying but the drops are killing us. I think JD5 is back on track to get back to where he was, it might just not be until after the bye week.

Good article. Some of this is just common sense, any decent DC will make scheme adjustments in the offseason when he knows who he'll be facing next season. But I think the biggest factor in the offensive struggles has been pass pro, or rather scheming up/play calling to help it. Drops and fumbles haven't helped, but too many 3rd and long situations have relied on JD hanging in the pocket too long, dumping off or trying to force balls.

I haven't seen every play from Sunday, but from what I saw the Cowboys were targeting getting us into those downs, then sending more than could be blocked and nowhere for him to scramble. Where were the crossing routes that may not pick up 1st down but had a chance? Designed rollouts to give him options to run?

Feels like play calling has gotten a bit conservative, presumably to protect him. Is it me or do we need to get back to plays that allowed him to ad lib and use his athleticism to open up opportunities?

I think he has a good chance to get it still. A lot of it will depend on his play down the stretch. If he regains his earlier season form and gets us into the playoffs think he's got a good shot. I'd love to see him win it.

For the record RG3 won ROY and Chase won RDY ; we all know how they panned out, maybe its best JD5 skips that award

Re: Jayden Daniels - Commanders QB Thread

micah Parsons has the best take on jD .. IF our COACHES will let him play and trust him He can be great!! That Dallas game was on the coach , lots of bad decisions starting with not putting kicker on IR before the game and not having Chris on the damn roster to be ready for a gimpy BRob ..plus not going after another WR at trade deadline , we went after Lattimore and he ain't played a down .. the coaches got to get it going .
