Trump could owe more than $100 million in taxes as a result of IRS inquiry, report says

Former President Donald Trump may owe over $100 million in taxes due to IRS inquiry into claims of massive losses on his Chicago skyscraper.

Trump's lawyers enabled further claims of losses by shifting the Chicago tower into a new partnership, sparking the IRS inquiry.

The IRS audit into Trump's Chicago tower loss claims could result in a tax bill of more than $100 million, with the audit still ongoing.



The news organizations reported Trump claimed massive financial losses twice — first on his 2008 tax return, when he said the building, then mired in debt, was “worthless,” and again after 2010, when he had shifted its ownership into a new partnership also controlled by Trump.

The 2008 claim resulted in Trump reporting losses as high as $651 million for the year, and there is no indication it drew an IRS challenge, the outlets reported. Then, Trump’s lawyers enabled further claims of losses in 2010 by shifting the Chicago tower into another partnership, “DJT Holdings LLC,” The Times and ProPublica reported.

In the years that followed, other Trump businesses, including golf courses, would be shifted into that same partnership — which his lawyers used as the basis to claim more tax-reducing losses from the Chicago tower. That move sparked the IRS inquiry. Those losses added up to $168 million over the next decade, the report said.

The outlets calculated the revision sought by the IRS could result in a tax bill of more than $100 million.

The only public mention of the IRS audit into Trump’s Chicago tower loss claims came in a December 2022 congressional report that The Times and ProPublica reported made an unexplained reference to the section of tax law at issue in the case. That mention, the outlets reported, confirmed the audit was still underway.

Trump suggests he could be a 3-term president if he wins election



Former President Trump suggested at an NRA event that he could be considered a three-term president if he wins the 2024 election.
Trump has previously stated in interviews that he would not pursue a third term in office if re-elected.
Presidents are currently restricted to two terms in office under the 22nd Amendment, with FDR being the only president to serve more before the amendment was enacted.

That revelation was among several cited by U.S. District Judge Beryl Howell in a newly unsealed 2023 opinion that found prosecutors had presented compelling evidence that Trump knowingly stashed national security documents in his home and then tried to conceal them when the Justice Department tried to retrieve them.

Thanks, IMO I don't see it as total conservative control, it's the down fall of our Country all together.
I got crap from a few after trump lost the election and he did lose. I was told to let it go and I said then not until he admits he lost................,well we are all still here. I clap back becuase all the trump supporters here would explode if any Democrat did or said what trump gets away with(hypocrisy anyone). Look you can't find any post of mine praising Biden yet he is 150% times better then trump any day. trump road the Coat tails of the Obama economy and due to the Pandemic and shutting down the Country yes inflation has gone through the roof. Yet we want to blame Biden for it all, trump was a tremendous (bigly) part of that but it's ignored. trump has poison the Country just look at the Supreme Court, look at his love for Dictators , look at the amount of American military's hierarchy that has warned us about him, it can't be ignored. I've lived through 13 different Presidents and I have felt two have disgraced the actual Office of the President , trump and Clinton.
I have not agreed with all of them , example Jimmy Carter was a crap President but he was an honest and wonderful person, he never disrespected the Office. You can find fault or policies you disagree with with any President but trump likes the dark side and is it solely for himself and I will point it out every chance I get. Be Well!
