As Andrew Brandt says, first-ballot Business of Football HOF'er:

@AdamSchefter
Compensation update: Falcons are giving QB Kirk Cousins a four-year, $180 million deal including $100 million guaranteed, per source. It’s $45 million per average per year.

Just name the business of sports Hall after Kirk.

@spotrac
With $100M guaranteed on his 4 year, $180M contract with the #Falcons, Kirk Cousins has now ensured over $330M in career earnings.

Kirk Cousins' bank account is elite.

I think it is a bit funny that in the past 10 years, the only "big money" QBs to have ever won a Super Bowl have been Stafford with the Rams (2022), Manning with the Broncos (2016) and Brady with the Bucs (2020).

Aside from that, the other winners have been:

* Brady with the Pats (2015, 2017, and 2019) - who we know was underpaid in NE.

* Wilson with the Seahawks (2014) - he was still in his rookie contract I believe.

* When the Iggles won in 2017, Foles was their backup, and Wentz (who took them there) was in his rookie contract.

* And the three wins by the Chiefs have been with Mahomes in his rookie contact and with the team friendly 10-year deal he is currently in.

This is crazy, given that Tom Brady earned $450 million over his 23-year career.

We need to adjust for inflation, Tom was in the NFL for 12 years before Kirk.

Remember when 20 million a year for a qb was insane? Kirk is now making 45 million a year and the other elite qb's gotta be close.

Dude has been able to fleece two teams into paying him elite money while mediocre play and only in the regular season.

That is just sour grapes. His play has been elite, just not successful in getting to the Superbowl (wouldn't be the 1st and probably not the last elite QB in that boat).

Cousins' stats are elite and that's what has gotten him paid. But I don't think you can be considered an elite QB with a 1-4 career playoff record.

That said, I think this is best chance to go all the way with Atlanta. They have an offensively loaded team. I don't know how good is their defense, but I'm sure Raheem Morris will make them good if they are not.

Elite? ROFL.

Cousins is the king of garbage time stats. I'll upgrade his play from mediocre to above average that but that's it. Man isn't clutch at all though.

NC I like you but I respectfully disagree.

Kirk owns the biggest comeback in Redskins history and in NFL history.

Sure his playoff record sucks but the NFL is a team sport. Team plays as much a role in those losses as he does.

His TD-turnover ratio is 3-1. That's better than anyone we've had in the last 30 years. I wouldn't take him back now, but that's because we have the #2 pick and he's 35 years old. We should've paid him when he was due.

It's a team sport but when the quarterback b****** and moans about getting guaranteed money guess what that does to the rest of the team it means they're not going to get as many top players so the rest of the team is going to have issues

He didn't want to be here. He may have said he did, but it was pretty obvious that was never the plan. He had some butthurt over being behind griffin and possibly a couple other things.

If we gave him a ridiculous fully guaranteed contract maybe, but that's in the past. Not having alex smith's knee exploded or having Synder actually make the push to sign brees out of SD would have been (historically) bigger swings than handing kirk piles of money to the detriment of the team.
