The worst move.

I like to see this

Jacoby Brisset (or a vet of that level)
Sam the screaming Korean
Mid level draft pick from this draft class

Have those three compete for the QB1 spot

Look at Dallas. Dak dazzled for a few games and got a huge contract. Dak also lost this game. You can’t compete without elite QB play. The ceiling has to be higher than Howell.

If you can figure out a way to get Herbert, Mahommes, Hurts, or Burrow to town let me know. Not sure what our other options are with other holes, not a ton of cap, and the 16th pick in a fairly week quarterback class Jamf. Like i said before im all for drafting a guy mid round like we did Howell and letting them battle it out.

Look at San Fran, investing in Purdy has them a game away. They didn’t quit looking after putting draft capital into Trey Lance.

You ALWAYS need to be looking.

I’d say let’s see what’s Howell got, but also keep your eyes on the draft

Re: 2023 Divisional Round Thread

Howell shouldn't have been a 5th round pick.. Two years ago he was mocked in the 1st rd and some had 1st overall.

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/...tchinson-no-1/

Howell dropped because the league fell in love with Malik Willis and Ridder..

That, and the Tarheels offense lost a lot of starting players in Howell's last year - top 2 WRs, top 2 RBs and majority of the Oline.

Go to the Sam Howell thread (last entry) and watch the 2 part video pre-draft evaluation by Kurt Warner.

No definitely not. People who think he is a project with a low ceiling did not watch him play in college. I would love for him and Brown to hit it off. Elevate each other’s play and have Terry, Dotson, Samuel, and Brown just giving opposing defenses nightmares.

Purdy was 19/29, 214 yards, 53.1 QBR

Purdy is a nice story. So was Nick Mullens and Taylor Heinike.

I feel like were the drunk guy at the end of the night with beer googles on re young unproven QBs.

Way over estimating and projecting.

You make a solid point with that example.

I'm not opposed to drafting a QB. I think they should. And I don't care where he's drafted, as long as their evaluation of the QB is commensurate with where he is drafted.

Can't go into the 2023 season with all our eggs in the Sam Howell basket.

Re: 2023 Divisional Round Thread

Wentz is gone and Heinicke is a FA. Since Turner is gone, he likely isn't coming back either.

So by default, we're adding 2 more QB's. I don't think anyone that wants Howell to be the starter in 2023 has said we shouldn't draft another QB somewhere in this draft.

Re: 2023 Divisional Round Thread

Howell has way more talent than TH does and Wentz. I think we add a Vet for sure but unless we can some how land Rodgers or TB12 I'm good with Howell starting

Do u consider the last pick in the draft an investment ? It is about as minor investment as you can make. We will go into 2023 with three quarterbacks on our final roster and Sam will have to beat them out in camp to start. That is obvious. The question remains what will we invest in those other guys? Some people on this board (not you im just piggybacking on your post) are acting like we can just bring in some big time arms to fight for the job. Where are they coming from? I wish that when people say things like “ sam didn’t earn anything and needs to have competition “ they would elaborate. Are you wanting to give up draft picks to take a guy like Levis? Are you wanting to give up a ton of cash and whatever else for Carr? Are you wanting to reach on say Richardson in the first? Right now Sam is our best option. So if you are not in favor of giving up picks or cash or both for someone specific than where is this strong competition coming from? Andy fucking Dalton?
