Re: Dan Snyder Hires Bank Of America To Potentially Sell Washington Commanders
I got into football in HS, so I was still a kid when I realized that Dan had to go. So to think that a childhood wish is now being potentially realized as an adult is pretty big deal emotionally. I think it is a big deal emotionally for all of us if and when it finally goes through.

For me the line of demarcation is essentially childhood vs adulthood. I'm 43, he bought the team when I was 19. Life before him included the first Super Bowl win, I still have photos of four year old me wearing a Riggins jersey and my dad throwing me up in the air in celebration after Riggo ran on 4th and 1. I had a huge grin, not because I realized what was happening in the football game, but because my dad and I were forming a memorable bond over football. That continued as 8 year old me saw a Super Bowl, with photos in an 80s style Redskins shirt, and then 11 year old me saw another. As a 12 year old, wore a Mark Rypien jersey to a baseball card show, had a card dealer leave his table to come show me something, it was a Mark Rypien card autographed. I said how much do you want for it? He said whatever you're willing to pay, I have a feeling you'll love it more than I do. I turned over all 28 dollars that I had on me. In high school and early college it wasn't the same as we weren't as successful under Norv, but the passion was there, and the frustration of not realizing potential under Norv was huge because of the passion. But then I hit adulthood and it feels like real life hits. College is ending, have to find a job, pay bills, Dan Snyder owns the team. Signs Jeff George, fires that coach at 7-6, fires the next, hires a college coach, brings back my childhood hero who does herculean things just to make the playoffs twice under Snyder. I get married, I have two daughters, I have moments with them but nothing close to when my dad threw me in the air in a Riggins jersey. They're 16 and 13 now. They don't care about the Commanders. He never gave them reason to. I won't get that back. Is it the greatest tragedy to have befallen someone? Nowhere close but it still makes me sad. But knowing that there's a chance it could be like it was when I was a kid means everything to me.

One time my wife's best friend was visiting from Philly and I watched her son, who was a few months older than my daughter, and my daughter while they went to run a race and brunch. The Eagles were playing the Skins that day so I put her son in the Redskins sweatshirt and took pictures sending it to all of her family up in Philadelphia. It felt right and it felt like we were going to have this silly bond of watching a sports team but it was so tough to keep following them every weekend and now she could care less about football. My son likes football but like most kids his age follows players and not teams but we will watch some of the Ravens together but it is not the same just something we can do and I can teach him about the game. Perhaps he will look on those moments and feel like they were important but it isn't the same as when my daughter and I were gearing up together, by the time he was born I just didn't watch full games much anymore.

Re: Dan Snyder Hires Bank Of America To Potentially Sell Washington Commanders
I was in the middle of my freshman year of college in 1991. Never would have thought at that time it was going to be all downhill from there. In the past few years I came to accept this franchise was ruined and would never find any real long term success under Snyder.
And with all the investigations and really troublesome shit we've learned as far as what a giant turd of a human Snyder is, I've almost come to despise what I once loved so much. A change in ownership would be so huge I can't even describe what a relief it would be. |

Man. I think you speak for the majority. I can’t believe how far they have fallen since 91 and it is hard now to even root for them because of douche bag. This would be like a new lease on life. Well football anyway.

Re: Dan Snyder Hires Bank Of America To Potentially Sell Washington Commanders
See a lot of chatter about people being hopeful the name will change again, maybe even back to Redskins. Neither of these things are happening. A franchise re-branding twice in a very short time? Don't see it happening. Just not good business. Going back to Redskins? 0.0 chance.

Everyone is going to hate any name, so I don't think a new owner would go through the trouble of going through that mess again.
