Well you could improve more than any team in the league, but still not be at the top of the pack or even remotely close because you started that far behind the rest. This chart and the pre season rankings chart are two totally different worlds.

In other words we could just be a bigger, rounder, oranger pumpkin. Lol.

Link has a good depth chart of where Commanders stand: https://www.hogshaven.com/2022/3/16/...oannidis-today

Note: depth chart does not include Norwell

No kidding. We lack depth overall IMO. We'll see what else happens in FA and then the draft.

Re: Commanders free agency thread

To me the key needs for upgrade are MLB and FS. OL needs depth, but always does. Who should we pursue as upgrades?

MLB - Wagner obviously, but is there anyone else out there worth pursuing in FA as an upgrade? If we can't land Wagner or at least a moderate improvement at MLB, we have to focus on it in the draft.
FS - Mathieu comes to mind, but there are question marks. Is he enough of an upgrade over McCain to justify a big cap hit, not to mention his health, but he can make a big impact if healthy etc. I'd look at DeShon Elliot and Jayron Kearse too. Is there anyone in FA that stands out as a significant upgrade aside from these 3?

I can see them bringing in an FA OT as a back up, but there are no young guys on the list of FA's that strike me as an upgrade. Again see what shakes out in the draft.

I'd also like to se them look at Will Fuller and Valdes-Scantling. We're not desperate for WR help, but if the re are still question marks over Samuel, we need a bona fide #2.

Re: Commanders free agency thread

I don't see Bobby Wagner as a viable option. We don't have enough cap space to add him, plus extend McLaurin, plus take on the contracts that come along with the rookie class.

I think we're looking more at the Kyzir White, Donta Hightower, Anthony Barr, or Anthony Walker type guys. Just depends what you want - first and second down thumper or a guy to flex into buffalo nickel (Kyzir White).

Similarly at safety I think honeybadger is too costly - and it wouldn't make a ton of sense, we already paid Bobby McCain starter money and we don't want to put Kam Curl on the bench. I don't think the starting caliber safeties would be interested in playing here because of it - I think you can forget about Quandre Diggs, Terrell Edmunds, etc.
There are a lot of depth safeties out there and we can afford to be patient at this position. I think Jabrill Peppers might appeal as the buffalo nickel type, depending what we do at MLB. He is a special teams force too which makes him appealing as a replacement for Everett. Anthony Harris and Rodney McLeod are both available too. Those are guys we can probably get for $3M if we're patient during the second wave and they'd give you solid dependable depth.

This is the part of FA where we should be patient, let the available players sweat a little bit, and scoop up several dependable guys for a few million each.

I'd try to get Star Lotulelei the same way. $4M for him, $4M for a MLB, $3M for a depth safety, $3M for a swing tackle, and save the rest for Terry.

I feel like Safety might be able to be addressed in the draft too more so than MLB

You may very well be right on that, and I won't freak out if we don't sign the highest available profile, I just want a proven vet at MLB. Many are still available.

I could definitely see that if they don't trade down. Just have gone so heavy on defense the last few years with 1st rounders and took a lb last year in the 1st round.

We need a nickel corner and depth boundary corner

At TE it all depends on Logan Thomas…will he be ready? Bates and Reyes are developing depth. I think we should add a vet TE, but someone (like RSJ) who will need to fight for a spot. Also, drafting a TE wouldn’t be out of the question
