Re: Chargers at WFT GameDay thread

Game time getting close, I hope this team does not pull the old floparoo. All the offseason excitement poured into 60 minutes of football. I can take a close loss, I can't take a blowout loss. BUT I want the type of win that justifies Koolaid fountains flowing in my front yard!

It's the worst part of week 1.

All the unbridled optimism and fantasy of thinking your team can be dominant right out of the gate - even though that rarely happens in the NFL. The parity in between teams means more often than not every week is going to be a close battle - except when you're a well established dominant team like the 07 Patriots matching up against a clearly not-on-their-level DC team. When you factor in this team's long history of slow starts I see no reason to think it won't continue.

In the end I hope the best parts of our team live up to the hype and we get surprised enough on offense to pull off the win. I also hope we as fans aren't disappointed when our team isn't as strong out of the gate as we expect them to be.

I will be more disappointed if our defense doesn't play up to expectations then the offense. I know the Chargers have an awesome QB, and strong skill positions. The defense has to show up and make a statement for the league to hear. The offense, I just don't want it to suck.

8 minutes and counting! This marks my 30th year as a fan. Started getting really into sports other than baseball when I was 10. I watched the year before....but really remember watching every game I could the super bowl year. And since the year after that, I can't remember being this excited for a season. I feel like these guys got the juice.
Here's a hearty and heart felt HAIL!

There is a tradition around here during the offseason and then preseason. We make moves in the draft and FA - we get hyped. If preseason doesn't go terribly we get excited and start fantasizing about how great we can be. Sometimes - like this year - the media will start hopping on our jock - in this case about best d-line in football and then subconsciously we start believing it "well, if the national media is saying it must be true."

And then the first game starts and somewhere in the first quarter we come crashing back to reality and realize potential does not equal production. And then we lose and realize this team still has a long way to go to compete with the best teams in the NFL.

Even guys in ESPN said “Fitzmagic can take this team to the Nfc title game”

Then…. being a Skins fan hits us right in the balls again as he goes down with a broke hip because his ass is old as fuck and we are back to playing QB2 for multiple weeks because we bet the bank on Fitz.. unreal.
