Re: NFL Free Agency Around the League
Pats didn't let Brady go, Brady told them he was leaving. Their big mistake was making "let's try to keep Tom" their Plan A for the offseason.

Re: NFL Free Agency Around the League
He told them he was leaving after he was only offered a one year deal by Belichick. Tampa offered two years, 50 million guaranteed, warm weather, no state taxes and better talent at the skill positions. Pretty much a no brainer.

Re: NFL Free Agency Around the League
Brady restructured his contract in the 2018 or 2019 offseason, so he could leave in the 2020 offseason. I'm pretty sure when this happened, Brady had made up his mind that he was leaving. You're right about all the other attributes about Tampa Bay, but it's not like they had to convince him, Brady knew he was leaving New England. The Patriots on the other hand, had this pipe dream that they could convince Tom to stay and that was Plan A, which was stupid IMO.
