2012 - RGIII, Kirk Cousins, Alfred Morris, Tom Compton
2013 - (no 1st Rd pick) Jordan Reed, Chris Thompson,
2014 - (no 1st Rd pick) Trent Murphy, Morgan Moses, Bashaud Breeland
2015 - Brandon Scherff, Preston Smith, Jamison Crowder, Austin Reiter
2016 - Kendall Fuller, Matt Ioannidis, Nate Sudfeld
2017 - Jonathan Allen, Ryan Anderson, Fabian Moreau, Chase Rouillier
2018 - Daron Payne, Tim Settle
2019 - Montez Sweat, Terry McLaurin, Cole Holcomb, Jimmy Moreland
2020 - Chase Young, Antonio Gibson, Kamren Curl

As you can see there were some pretty good picks prior to Kyle Smith and all his glory. There were also some pretty bad picks (not listed) before Kyle and with Kyle. The notion that things are markedly better because of his presence is simply false. You really really like him though, and that's ok. I just don't think he's as much of a difference maker as you would like to believe.
And if you count the impactful players from 2102-2017 not counting RGIII, Compton, Sudfeld, Morris, players like RGIII had one good year and we gave up the farm for him, Morris 2-3 years. 15 impactful players in 6 years vs 9 in 3 years. Some of those picks were Shanarat’s forgot about him as GM.

Joe Gibbs- The best coach of all time, Lombardi trophy should be renamed Gibbs.

Art Monk- Art was like an OL playing WR, doing the dirty work and not getting the glory.

Darrell Green- Best DB ever.

Why wouldn't you count Compton and Morris? Those weren't good picks?
