I heard this on the radio, so i cant take credit.

Announce that this year is the last year they will go by the Redskins. They will officially retire the name after 2020 to allow them time to finalize the legal side of a new name.

Skins gear would fly off the shelf, DS makes some money, fans get one final farewell year, time to do everything thats needed and you avoid what we have now ... a confusing situation of a team with no name.

This assumes Fed Ex and company would accept but worded and presented the right way ... I think they could have been sold on the idea.
