Re: Offence and Alex Smith
Per Adam Schefter:
Alex Smith suffered a compound fracture - meaning the bone broke through his skin, per source. Trauma surgeons discovered Smith suffered a spiral fracture in his leg - defined as a long bone broken by a rotational force. Smith, 34, faces a lengthy rehab process to try to return. I don’t know about a 6-8 month recovery period, maybe more like over a year.

Quote:
Howard Luks MD @hjluks Luckily spiral fractures have greater surface area and occur at lower force then other types of fractures. Therefore typically heal well. Use “open fracture” not “compound fracture”. I’d prefer a simple tibia fx over an ACL any day. |
