Re: Moving on to Fitzmagic

After the Atlanta game I was very pessimistic about the upcoming one.

But as the week moves forward I've had a couple of thoughts that gave me hope:

1) We know this defense is way better than what they showed last week, and they reacted very well after being humiliated by the Saints. So I hope they come out angry and hungry, and create turnovers, which Fitz can give you even without a lot of pressure.

2) Mike Evans is big and tough, Jackson is fast, but this receiving corps is nowhere near Julio, Sanu and Ridley. Fitzpatrick is not Matt Ryan, and Peyton F'nin Barber is nowhere near Telvin Coleman.

3) The run game didn't get going last week mainly because of missed blocking assignments. I'm not saying Bergstrom and Christian are even close to Scherff and Moses, but apart from a couple of plays they were not getting embarrassed the way we thought they would. So after a week of practicing in whatever starting line up they'll be, they should be able to do at least enough to give AP a chance to carry this offense on his back.

4) F' it, sip of Kool Aid, Burgundy glasses on, Skins 21 Suckaneers 13, HTTR !

I don’t agree this defense is way better than they showed last week. They have shown That they are good against the run, but wilt against teams with high powered passing attacks.
While Fitz is no Matt Ryan,he leads NFL in ypa,and he is playing pretty damn good this year.
Bucs can’t run the ball and we have shown that we are good at stopping the run, so I doubt if the bucs even try that hard to run against us,would you?
Tampa is 8th in scoring,we are 25th,Alex Smith cannot win in a shootout with Fitzmagic.
If, and that’s a big if, this patchwork offensive line can somehow come together and get Peterson 100 yards and we can control the clock then we have a chance, if not I think this could be another blowout we cannot stop their passing attack (of course with Fitzmagic, there’s always that chance he will be Fitztragic and throw 4 interceptions, lets hope)

I'm definitely hoping our D can force Ryan into Fitztragic mode and get some turnovers.

And I know the 2 times they faced legit pass heavy teams (Saints and Falcons) this D looked like crap, but I still think they're better than that: against the Saints there was quite a lot of blown coverage and stupid mistakes, against the Falcons the front 7 played their worst game of the season, both against the run and the pass, if you take away the stupid Josh PI and the humiliating Ridley TD were all 11 defenders screwed up, I think the secondary did OK against a really good receiving corps.
So I really don't think this D can not defend the pass.

This secondary has blown coverages in what seems like every game, where receivers have been running wide fking open, fortunately in our wins we were able to overcome those blown coverages, and I will be thoroughly surprised if we dont have more of the same thing tomorrow.

Yes to blown coverages but it starts with the pass rush.

If their qb gets time, we will get lit up.
We don’t have corners that can run with these guys.
