I'm pretty sure that's true because Griffen got hurt that game and we only have a few DTs.

I think you're right. They pretty much say so in the article from the WP that Matty posted here.

It was quoted somewhere that GW planned to use the 3/4 more because of injuries to the DLine, and that San Fran's offense couldn't handle it. Also, it was probably utilized more so because of the game Lavar had. 3/4 gets L.A. in the game more.
