Re: Gruden fires defensive coordinator Joe Barry

With Vance Joseph becoming the Broncos new head coach and Sean McDermott possibly becoming the Bills new head coach, there's going to be at least two other teams in need of finding a defensive coordinator. So, IMO, I think this might force the Redskins to speed up their search a bit.

good point...and to be honest, they (and the rest of us) knew Barry was going to be gone weeks ago.

The short list should've been whittled down by now.

So, you want the Redskins to move more quickly on their DC search. Is that correct? I just want to make sure that's what you're trying to get across to us.

If you were WP would you take this job? I wouldn't. Not sure how he's going to feel working for a wet behind the ears 31 year old coach either....

He wanted the job two years ago, if that means anything now.

Why wouldn't he? Gruden has shown he's a competent head coach. The offense is capable of winning games. And the owner is willing to spend for players. Unless he wants a head coaching job, which I doubt, this is as good a job as most available.

Re: Gruden fires defensive coordinator Joe Barry

I haven't been on in a while. What up Warpathers!

For me, I would like to see the skins hire either Wade Phillips or Mike Pettine as DC. Gus Bradley seems like he has been in the right place at the right time for promotions. In Tampa, in Seattle, how much did he control actually control or run as DC? As head coach with the Jags, he was very bad. His defenses were uninventive or inspiring and literally pissed off the players.

Pettine's team had good defenses and he took the wrong job in Cleveland,

Wade is by far the best candidate and if we are going to interview him, we better move quickly because McVay has made it known that he will take Wade to be his DC if he is hired.

Welcome back dhs! I agree with your points, although I would be alright with Bradley because he does have a track record of success with the Seahawks.

Right now I would rank my list like this.

#1: Phillips
#2: Pettine
#3: Bradley

#78: Greg Manusky

I agree, except manusky I have at #367,291. I got him wedged between #367,290 Ham Sandwich and #367,292 Dog Turd on the side of the road.

Re: Gruden fires defensive coordinator Joe Barry

Bradley is the top of my list. He runs the 4-3 nascar scheme which is my favorite defense and i think we are closer to personnel for a 4-3 then we are a 3-4 which is sad and shows the incompetence this front office has had before Scot showed up.

On that note. We know Scot can draft for a defense run by Bradley and that point shouldnt go ignored.
