Worst Mistake of the Shanahan Era

I've never seen the 3-4 as the problem, just the players and coach running it.

The legendary top 10 4-3 we had was old and lacked playmakers and needed an overhaul anyway.

As far as the trade that everyone is knocking now don't forget that the cap penalty came afterwards. Gotta think that trade doesn't happen if they knew the cap hit was coming.

It still lacks playmakers. Especially on the front 7. After 4 years we still don't have the most important piece...a true NT. Inexcusable.

He's been solid. But what's his true position? DT in a 4-3. They've asked Rak and Kerrigan to play coverage at times. The 3-4 has been a failure.

Yes our D was better when we ran the 4-3, but Rak was a LB in our 4-3 D.

IMO he is part of the problem as he would be better suited to play DE in the 3-4 and would allow for a true monster space eating NT, which he is not . . .

So, with this reasoning, Shanahan made the right decision to dismantle a top 10 defense, switch to a 34 with an unproven coach, and the trade for a franchise qb wouldnt have happened if he knew he was going to get docked for sweeping contract money into an uncapped year?

Yeah, this guy made all the correct moves considering, and definitely should be leading our squad....................NOT.
