Riggins, Monk, Theismann, Green etc. don't play anymore. In time RG3 will be gone.

So what keeps you a fan, just being a local? What if they moved to another city and another team started up in DC? Who are you rooting for?

I'm a Skins fan because they're local and because they've always been a family team. At this point if they moved somewhere else I would still be a fan just because I've been a hardcore Redskins fan for the past 8 years. But for me its all about being local, hence why I'm an O's, Nats, Caps and Wizards fan. So a little part of me in terms of fandom would be gone for good.

There are some teams I like just because of the fan base and history though, such as the Raiders in football and the Red Sox in baseball.

But I'll always root for the home team first.
