A running back avoiding tackles easily transfers to the image of a wolf evading an enemy. So many stunning images.
Guardians brings up Guardians of the galaxy, Sentinels has some merit, but wolves hit every key concept of a football team on the field.

I agree with almost all of this. A pack of wolves descending on prey is a great image and goes so well with football. I'm not sure that wolves are natural enemies to giants though. The Washington Bean Growers, now that would amplify the hostility between New York and Washington.
