Re: How Long Will Jay Gruden Last This Season as Head Coach?

Another point is that the Eagles are a very good team that had not played their players at all in the PS. First half they were rusty and unfocused. But DeSean told the Eagles players not to worry: the Redskins have a losing culture; a timid, below average HC who can’t win a second half - even to save his job. I liked the comment on the Gruden 4 and 1 play . If MY job was on the line I’d be going for it, even on my own 30. The Eagles ran three QB sneaks on 1 yd situations and got them all. They knew the Redskins would fold, they knew Gruden would try to protect the lead instead of doing what worked in the first half, they knew the Redskins would play undisciplined football to shoot themselves in the foot. When has Gruden had a low penalty team? When was the last time Gruden won a second half?
I thought O’Connell called a great first half. Then Gruden played his Jay-bowl second half : run on first down (minimal gain), penalty on OL, run on second down and then have a third and unbelievable passing down. If the fans can see Gruden’s predictable play calling you can be sure the Eagles DC knows how to stop it. I don’t blame Guice, the playcalling was predictable and their was NO hole. Gruden hasn’t grown or changed. I used to think we needed to draft better, but even when we do, the result is the same. It’s going to be painful to see good talent subjected to below average to poor coaching at a the HC and DC level.
