While I don't know as much as you from the inside of espn obviously, as a viewer I agree that it's an insult to say that espn's female broadcasters are hired w/looks as a primary reason. I think we're well beyond the era of having token women in sports journalism, there seem to be a lot of them out there that clearly know the subject matter & are really good at what they do. I think the firing of Ron Franklin also showed that espn isn't tolerating the old boy ways & is committed to equality.
Also, to your point; Hannah Storm, Dana Jacobsen, Linda Cohn & some others are all nice-looking but are clearly not swimsuit model hot. They are all very good at what they do, so much so that I really haven't even thought about female sports journalists being lesser in the way they do the job, until this was brought up today!
