We can clinch a playoff spot this week (I think)

I was looking at conference records etc., we are 2 games up on the 8-6 teams (Atl, Dal, and Min)

If we beat NYG,

And 1. ATL loses to TB (road game)
Very possible.
2. Dal loses to Carolina (road game) I would expect this to happen.
3. Min loses to BAL (road game). After watching the ravens last night, albeit the packers, i think they have a shot against Minn.

I think we would have ourselves a playoff spot on XMAS day (thats when Min and Bal play).

Correct me if im wrong...

From ESPN.com:

• The Redskins clinch a playoff spot with:
1. A win and a Cowboys loss and a Vikings loss and a Falcons loss

This whole playoff scenario makes me clinch.

Only problem is, Tampa Bay played like ass this weekend, and Baltimore sucks. Let's hope Tampa Bay can get their heads back on straight, and Boller can play like he played last night.

cool thing is we are still in the running for a first week bye. we would want different outcomes but i will be hoping for us to clinch so we can walk into the eagles with our heads up and hoping for a giants loss to get a 3rd seed and a home game.
It also is very possible that the cowboys us and the giants all go to the playoffs as long as the tampa loses one and the cowfruits win out. That would put us at 5th seed dallas at 6th and giants at 3 or 4 most likely and a possibility of a home NFC championship against the boys

The Skins control their own destiny, but I am worried about the Giants. I am just hoping that the Giants continue to play poorly on the road. They are 3-3 on the road They beat New Orleans on the road (yeah right, it was at their house), Philly and San Fran. All really bad teams. They lost to Dallas, San Diego, and Seattle on the road. All pretty good teams. It just tells me that teams over .500 usually beat them when they travel. I hope that trend continues on Saturday.

The Skins need help if they lose, but all 3 teams that we need to lose this week are all on the road.

Yes, if the Skins, Boys, Vikings, and Falcons all go 1-1 over their last 2 games then the Skins hold the tiebreakers over what would be the other three 9-7 teams. The Skins at 9-7 would be the 6th seed and right now face the Giants or Bears or Panthers in the first round.

The Skins' three pronged magic number is two. Any combination of wins by us and losses by Atl,Dal or Minn that equals two disqualifies that team. We win tie-breakers over each of those teams no matter what.
All we need to do is take care of business. I'd love 2 wins and a (x fingers) a home playoff game if possible but it is extremely unlikely. We'd have to win out and the Giants and TB would need to lose out. Their schedules don't make losing out look possible.

Very succint description, nice.

1-1 can get us in, but we definitely should assume that one of those three teams will go 2-0. I know they have tough games, but odds are that one of the three somehow steps it up. We should assume that we need to win both of our games to get it done.

Atlanta should be out of that equation for Washington. Even if Atlanta wins out and Washington wins out, the Redskins hold the tie-breaker over Atlanta because they have more wins in conference than Atlanta. The only team with more wins vs NFC teams than Washington is Minnesota. You need Minnesota to loose one of the last two and Redskins need to win out.

no the vikings don't(they have already beat an AFC team and we haven't so if we tie it is fact that they would have won more AFC games than us). by the way where are the cowboys in that equation. I hope us both make it and we both make it to the championship game. The chances of that isn't that small. All that has to happen is the cowboys win out, the falcons WIN WIN WIN ONE and the vikings lose one(i am not even sure if that has to happen but i think it does) and you will get sixth seed and skins will get 5th. I THINK. Carolina will be served a loss by you if you win out and if atlanta beats either Carolina or tampa you will get tie breaker over those two teams i think(not sure about Tampa) so you will be in.

if the skins and the vikings both win their last two games, the skins would be awarded the playoff spot over the vikings because the skins will have the better nfc record at 10-2 . the redskins control their own destiny.:headbange

yeah all of a sudden it hit me for some reason. last year we went 5-1 outside of our division and inside the NFC but this year in the NFC we might go 10-2. Man think if we just won some f'n AFC games. How many in a row have we lost? 10-11?
