moss

we threw to him deep for 2 td's against dallas in double coverae. Im pretty sure he can run past just about any corner or safety in the league so why dont we try it more often when it worked so well. discuss

Re: moss

We do need to try some long passes to Moss. I know he's being double covered, but you gotta try it a couple times a game. As Moss showed against the Rams, he'll make some plays, even if guys are hanging all over him.

Moss sat out of practice yesterday. I hope he's back to full strength for Sunday's game.

Re: moss

I hope they go deep with moss on the first drive, just to get into Roy Williams head and keep his ass from creeping up in the box.

Uh, we are playing the Cardinals this week not the Cowboys..... that's next week. I expect the Cardinals know we want to run early and often, so Moss may have a decent day. However, can the Cardinals stop the run even when they know it coming? That is the big question. I don't want to see Warner on the field much, so a running attack will shorten the game. I would like to see Moss and Portis break the Skins single season records for receiving yards and rushing yards, so I hope they both have big days.

Uh, I'm pretty sure the post was Moss in general and open for any discussion and made mention to what he did in the last Dallas game and why we don't do it more often not just the Cardinals game. My comment was in regards to I hope they do the same thing to Dallas when they do play them. I'm sure they will focus on the run in this game, but against Arizona weak pass D there should be ample opportunity to get the ball downfield also even though the secondary may be improved with Antrelle Rolle back in the line up for I think the first week in a while.

Re: moss

Got to keep Warner off the field. We don't have the DL to create the pass rush needed to disrupt....even against the Cardinals!

Re: moss

since we dont have a number 2 guy, Moss in constantly being doubled. Brunell is not going to risk having the ball intersepted. So thats where Cooley has to be more involved, Portis on screens, and Royal. Yes I said Royal, he actually had a decent game last week. Once we start getting EVERYONE involved on a consistant basis, Moss will be open more. Taylor(can I stay healthy and catch some balls) must make some sort of contribution. They are essentially putting one person on him,and he can not get open. That is aweful. If thats the case put Antonio Brown over there and let him try or Farris. Its not going to make any difference who we have over there if the #2 guy cant get open.

Re: moss

I'd like to see Sean Taylor lined up as a receiver more. At least as a decoy to get Moss open downfield if nothing else.

I put that in a previous thread. That would be awesome to see. The guy can fly and if he catches the ball I would love to see one of the DBs try and bring him down. What a weapon he could possibly be. He is a pure athlete and could probably make a contribution here and there.

Re: moss

Brunnell seems to be reading the field and moving around to make a play well, but I wonder how much he really is looking for these second and third receivers and not just for Moss and Cooley because they are his playmakers no matter if they are the prime for the route or not. I have seen him squeeze in some tight plays to Cooley and Moss in tight coverage probably because he does a good connection with them and a lot of trust. I've been to only about three games this year and TV does not give you a picture of the other receivers and if they are getting open, but just not being seen. Even Patten with his speed and experience did not get a lot of balls and even at the beginning of the year I believe we talked about Patten being open and not being seen and ball was thrown away. If I was Brunnell I would put my trust in those guys as well, but just curious if those at the games are seeing other receivers open on some downfield routes post, etc... and Brunnell is checking down to Cooley or Royal.

The only problem with that otherwise brilliant idea (when he lined up the first time against Dallas I was as happy as when we drafted him) is that ST hasn't been practicing much, and Gibbs definately wants him taking his practice reps if he's going to be in there in game situations. It is something we should really try to incorporate into our offense though. It solves the problem of red zone possession receiver.

Re: moss

It would open things up more if we can get more than 2 receivers running routes. We are using max-protect way too much.
