Brunell??
I was so HAPPY the skins finally got back on track this past sunday. Like i said before i was unable to get the video of the game cause my friends comp broke and he couldnt tape it for me so i had to watch on the NFL.com website. (Its not to easy to catch skins games in France)
I was really nervous in the first half when judging purely by the stats it looked like brunell was having a poor game. During half time of the game i got on the warpath and made a post on the game thread asking what the problem was with Brunells play...like whether the offensive line wasnt playing well, the receivers were dropping passes, or if it was really brunell playing poorly. Im still not sure which is the case, so if some of you could provide your thoughts about Brunells performance on sunday id appreciate it. I guess i just have this nervous feeling like he is starting to slip a little from how he was playing earlier in the year. I really hope thats not the case. Cause going into these last few games i feel like we are gonna be facing some teams capable of putting up a lot of points (cardinals and giants) and some pretty good defenses (giants recently, cowboys, and eagles). Therefore since we prolly wont be able to rush for 200+ yards per week, we prolly are gonna need Brunell to actually make some plays...and not just avoid turnovers. So in short, please discuss your thoughts on Brunells performance this past sunday. And suggest what we are gonna need to get out of him going forward to have a good chance at winning our remaining games. |

Re: Brunell??
There's not a whole lot to complain or rave about his performance on Sunday. The theme of the day was to run the ball, and run it some more. He was strictly a game manager, but he was efficient as indicated by the 104.5 rating. Most of his 14 completions were dumps to Royal (4-40) and Cooley (5-58) and they turned some of those catches into nice gains.

I think Brunell will be good to go! Plain and simple.

Re: Brunell??
I think Brunell's apparent slip on the stat sheet is primarily due to the fact that defenses have figured out that we don't have much of a receiving threat opposite Santana Moss, so if you double cover Santana Moss you're going to do a pretty good job against our passing game.
Brunell is a very smart QB, and when nothing is there he throws the ball away. He's finding less and less to throw to these days, so he's throwing it away a lot more. That's probably why we're seeing a dip in his completion percentage and yardage. But the key thing is he's still not throwing picks. 16 TD passes, 5 INTs. If he can just control the fumbles, I won't have a single complaint about our QB. |

Re: Brunell??
This brings up a good point. Brunell and the offense are going to have to throw the ball to set up the run against better defenses. Against the cowboys and giants, especially. Right now, i'm positive about the future, but we are average as our record states. For the team to become a playoff team, an above average team, we are going to have to be able to balance the run and pass a little better. Hopefully we start this weekend.

The only way to loosen up coverage on Santana Moss is to have a decent 2nd receiver. Taylor Jacobs HAS to step up in a major way. We can probably get by with a marginal game from him against the Cardinals, but we're going to need him next week against the Cowboys. A healthy James Thrash wouldn't hurt either. |

Re: Brunell??
The key matchup in this game is Samuels against Berry, Samuels probably get's burned most of the game, and gets Brunell blindsided a few times and probably coughs up the ball at least once.

Re: Brunell??
The only thing about that is since Brunell is a lefty, Samuels protects his front side, not his blindside.

Re: Brunell??
Hahahaha, here's your sign!
I thought Brunell's performance was just okay. Nothing great. I think he managed the game as good as any top rate quarterback in the league, but I think he's going to have to have not only solid performances going down the stretch, but great performances. Obviously not having Thrash or Patten has affected the passing game some. Can't look for Moss on every play.

Re: Brunell??
brunell did what is ask of todays qbacks, manage the game.play winning football with little or no mistakes.he took a potential diaster, with the fumble at the goal line, and kept the game winnable for the skins.as far as berry,i would like to see the skins go back to rolling pocket.we used it early in the season, with some sucess.and brunell is fairly accurate while on the move

I wasen't around the site sooner, I have been busy hunting, and sleeping about 3 hrs a night, so sorry, I didn't see the game until last night. But I am very concerned about that matchup, that matchup alone could lose us the game, Samuels gets dominated by fast DE's. It wasen't a knock on Brunell, just Samuels. |
